I had a busy week last week, and didn't read at ALL...I missed it. Today I'm linking up with Steph and Jana for their FIFTH anniversary of Show Us Your Books!

The Thousandth Floor 4/5-This was Influenced the Podcast's Book Club pick for September and not one I probably would have found on my own, so this is why I love book clubs! The story is told a hundred years in the future about a group of students who live in this exquisite, modern, awesome tower. The tower is home to EVERYTHING, gyms, parks, school, and more exclusive the higher up you get. There are a handful of students and perspectives the story is told from, and was super interesting. I rated it 4/5 because it took me a while to get in to it based on the modern and futuristic views and story, BUT by the end I was itching to grab the next book in the series.

A Stranger on the Beach 3/5 Caroline is obsessed with her new, expensive beach house and loves everything about it- including hosting parties. At the first party, there's a very public fight between her and her husband and Aiden, a local happens to be there bartending. Aiden starts popping up everywhere, and things begin to get very weird. As Caroline's marriage is on the rocks, life around her gets crazier. The story was pretty weird to me, I love thrillers but the whole plot behind the story straight pissed me off, for lack of better words. I don't think I've ever been this ready to be done reading a thriller. Not my favorite!
Love and Other Words 5/5 Oh, this one made me cry. Such a beautiful story about a woman who thinks her life is on the right path, until she runs in to the love of her life- her first and only! Macy and Elliott grew up together, and bonded over books and firsts. They shared words, stories, heartbreak, pains and success until one night it all ended. They both have different recollections of the night, which they share as they become reunited. The story is so beautifully told and has so many ups and downs and I loved it being told from childhood and now. Such a great read!
The Mother- In -Law 4/5- Lucy's mother-in-law was distant from the start. Diana was polite and friendly, but not warm and fuzzy like she envisioned for herself. All Lucy wanted to do was please Diana, and never seemed to succeed. Five years later, Diana is dead. There is a suicide note stating she no longer wanted to live due to a battle with cancer, that no one seems to know about. It all seems strange since the autopsy shows no signs of cancer, but that there was suffocation and poison. Who wanted Diana dead? So many stories emerge from the original premise of the book, which I really enjoyed. I just wish the mother-in-law was friendlier throughout, but the ending is beautiful. It made me cry, which I wasn't expecting, a good one!
I just picked up 3 new books from the library to read, and am really excited to get started. Do you have any Fall favorites or Halloween thriller books to recommend for me? Hope you're having a great start to the week! I'll see you back here Friday!
