10 Beauty Tricks Every Woman Should Know

I was recently thinking of writing down things I want my daughter to know. Obviously children learn from a good example, and things we do each and every day.

But there's those other things you want to pass along and have written down somewhere, that includes beauty tricks. I'm happy to say that the majority of these I learned from my Mom and that makes me so happy to look back and remember sitting in the bathroom watching her do her makeup, or her purchasing things for me and telling me what I should do with them. For those of you who don't know, my Mom passed away 18 years ago so these little moments and memories are even more special to me, especially as a woman. There are affiliate links in this post.
In no particular order, beauty tricks every woman should know:

Always use a wide tooth comb in the shower.
For healthier hair- keep a wide tooth comb in the shower to brush through your hair. Brushing your hair dry opens up the hair cuticle leaving it more prone to damage. For the best results- comb very gently after applying conditioner, starting at the end of your hair and working your way up. This wide tooth comb is a great buy!

Apply your eye cream to the bones.
If you're not applying your eye cream to your brow bone,  you're not doing it correctly. This helps target the entire eye area and stimulates circulation. Put a pea size amount on your ring finger (ring finger is suggested because of the delicate area of your eye and this finger uses the lightest touch) and start from inner corner of your eye, dabbing in a semi-circle to your brow bone. Gently tap until fully absorbed and wait at least 2 minutes before applying anything else in the area.

Once a week, sleep with a hair mask or deep conditioner on.
If you have fine or thin hair, you want to use caution with this as it may weigh your hair down. But, to get better hair if you're dealing with some damage or want to stay ahead of the game-sleep with a hair mask or deep conditioner on once a week. I love the Oribe Signature Moisture Masque and if you color your hair check out Olaplex-both are highly suggested by professional stylists!

When applying mascara, wiggle the mascara wand horizontally to get the best look.
People think that the volume comes from the extension of the wand, but to get your lashes looking extra good you want to wiggle the wand horizontally as you move from the base to tip. It gets the most out your mascara and the wand while fully covering all of your lashes.

Apply white eye-shadow to the inner corner of your eye to look more awake.
This is one of the easiest and oldest tricks in the book. Call it a classic. While you don't really see women wearing white eye-shadow to the brow bone like in 8th grade, a touch of white in the inner eye really makes them pop. You can use any neutral to get a good look- white, peach, silver....it's fun to experiment. This opens up the eye and helps you look more awake (always needed in my case).

Warm your lash curler to help lengthen your lashes.
Heat your eyelash curler for a few seconds to get it warm, but to a touchable temperature so you don't harm yourself. Heating the curler helps your lashes, giving them volume and length. Between this and the previous two tips- you'll be all set with your eyes ;)

Follow the expiration on products,: find the symbol that tells you how long it is good for.

Use a gel topcoat to double the longevity of your manicure.
Even if you're not a gel manicure fan, you should use a gel-like topcoat. These topcoats help extend the length your at home manicure, without taking a trip to the salon. I LOVE this brand, and have had it for about a year with plenty left! You can also check out this one !!!

Turn your shower in to a spa with a few drops of essential oil.
You can reap the benefits of essential oils an turn your daily shower in to a visit to the spa in minutes. Put a few drops of your favorite oil on the shower floor and let the aroma build in to the steam to help you breathe easier and relax.

You can curl your entire head of hair in two minutes.
Don't believe me? Try this: Put your hair in a high ponytail and split in to four sections. Take a curling wand around each section, spray with texturizing spray and then flip your head and shake out after hair is cool.
