ULTA Hits & Misses

Happy Friday everyone! I hope your week has been great.

Today I thought I would share some products I've tried lately- but rather just talking about the things I love I wanted to include the things that weren't so hot. Up today, we have some goodies from Ulta that I've been using, some for at least six months or more- so they are definitely due for a review.
*There are affiliate links in this post, thanks for supporting my future Ulta trips ;)

Maybelline Tattoo Brow Gel MISS. I had been out of my normal brow mascara by Maybelline, and had to stock up on a few things I was out of and headed to Ulta. Unfortunately they were out of all the brow gels, and instead of doing what I should have and checked to see if Target down the road had it in stock, I grabbed something new. Total FAIL- this gel was so streaky and thick all at the same time which made for an awful application. I looked like I was getting ready for a drag show with all the product I had on my face- so disappointing! Not knocking the drag queens, but this product is NOT for an everyday look.

Invisibobble Hair Tie MISS. I get headaches from wearing my hair up far too easily and have used the soft hair ties for years. I then came across some of the Invisibobble hair ties and thought I would give them a try. They work in not giving me a headache 9 times out of 10, but they still left a crease in my hair when I would wear it up at night. Bummer, because these seem to work well for everything other than leaving marks in your mane.

Fromm Diane Detangler Comb HIT. I was in need of a new comb and only use a brush when I blow dry my hair after washing it. All the other times, I use a wide tooth comb because it works best for my thick, course hair. I saw this one at Ulta and read that there are minerals from avocados and almonds including vitamin E and omega 3 to help build hair rather than break it. Total win for less than $3. I just picked up another to keep in my desk at work too!

Maybelline Baddest Beige Lipstick HIT. I wasn't looking for a new nude lippie, but I'm SO SO glad I heard about this one. It goes on so smooth, even when I forget my MAC Prep + Prime! It lasts a good amount of time and is the PERFECT nude color- I think this would be good on a wide variety of skin tones.

Wella Oil Reflections Smoothing Oil HIT. As mentioned above, I have very thick, coarse, naturally curly hair that can be hard to manage sometimes. I read Emily Gemma's blog post where she talked about the mask from this line and decided to give the oil a try. I was SO impressed with how it worked I told my hair stylist what a game changer it is. It not only left my hair super soft after blow drying, but it cut down the time it takes to dry it too. Last week I tried using a few more pumps (my hair is a few inches past my shoulders) and it worked even better for my ends. I love this stuff, and the smell is so good too. I've been using it since the end of October and still have more than 3/4 of the bottle left-well worth the price.

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer HIT While I didn't purchase this from Ulta, I thought I would mention it here since it can be purchased at the store. I bit the bullet and finally got a Dyson before Christmas. QVC had a deal going on for $100 off and it included some extra Living Proof products with the kit and I treated myself. I have read about this dryer for YEARS and decided it was worth it, especially now when #momlife makes my self-care time cut a little shorter. It normally would take me about 35-40 minutes to dry my hair, all while working up a sweat using the round brush and hair dryer to work together as a wonderful team. Now...7 minutes, far less of a fight and I am done! The dryer is also SO lightweight and has multiple different settings and attachments to find the perfect combo for your hair type. I am obsessed to say the least and think that if you're someone like me who needed all that time to get your hair under control, it's well worth the purchase. I know it's pricey- but in my opinion it is SO worth it! If you would enjoy a dedicated post more in depth about this specific item let me know in the comments, I'm no high profile beauty blogger but I'd be happy to share my honest thoughts more in depth on it!

Benefit Brow Setter 24 Hour Gel HIT My brows have been a little unruly lately so I thought I would try out this brow setter. I don't use it on an everyday basis- I see it more more of a "special occasion" type thing. I love that it helps keep everything in place and locks in the color from my brow gel.

Hope you liked today's round-up and a little something new from me! Enjoy your weekend-stay safe and warm, and have some fun!
