Bella's Candyland- First Birthday Party Details

I can't believe it was already over a month ago that our babe Bella Charles turned 1!
We celebrated at Sugar at Romolo Chocolates ( a local candy shop) for her first birthday party, and it was Bella's very own Candyland. It was a sweet and special day, and I'm so happy we have all these pictures to remember the fun. We decided to have a photographer there to capture everything since it was such a busy day, and we wanted to have all the memories and also not give the task to anyone trying to enjoy the party.

I want to thank Chuck for dealing with all my questions and asking his opinion- you would have thought I was planning our wedding, and my girlfriends for their help setting up- Bella has the best Auntie's around, and of course all of our family members for making the trip to celebrate our baby girl.
Bella and I went to check out this venue back in April, actually on my Mom's birthday. I knew I wanted to turn what is sometimes a sad day for me around, and decided to visit this place I had seen online with Bella. The party room, Sugar is a newer addition to the candy shop. I fell in love, it was like the best version of Willy Wonka's Factory and CandyLand all in one- so we booked it.
You could have gotten away with absolutely no extra decor, but if you know me- you know I love extra. So I searched and pinned and browsed online every day and made some centerpieces, signs, a time capsule, party bags and posters because I love expressing my creativity- especially when it comes to our sweet one year old!

I wanted a guest book so Bella could remember who was there to celebrate for years to come, so the book "The Wonderful Things You Will Be" was used at the entrance for everyone to sign.
We put a balloon banner from on Etsy and attached her monthly pictures with her board along it. There were some framed pictures from her first birthday photo shoot and a poster I made of some fun stats from Bella's first year on it. We made a time capsule and asked everyone to share a dream, a memory or something special for Bella and we put the invitation and some pictures in it so she can open it with us on her 18th birthday!
For the centerpieces, I used colored vases from the Dollar Tree and filled them with gumballs. I then used some sweets tree picks from Hobby Lobby, some tissue paper and a lollipop with different pictures of Bella to complete them.

There were crafts for the kids, and a caricature artist there to sketch family portraits to fill the other time and keep everyone entertained. Bella had a build your own cupcake bar with chocolate raspberry and vanilla cupcakes and marshmallow, peanut butter cups, gummi bears, sprinkles, chocolate covered pretzels and more to decorate and eat!

It is very important for our family to give back, especially after all we went through during my bedrest and Bella's NICU stay. A very important non-profit, Grady's Decision helped our family immensely. So we thought for Bella's birthday party we would ask for donations for Grady's Decision in lieu of gifs. We are so happy to report that we were able to donate a ton of supplies including diapers, wipes, blankets and more and $520 to this wonderful organization. We visited the NICU on Bella's birthday to deliver the donations, and it was a great way to spend party of her special day.
Our sweet friend and talented baker, Allie made Bella's smash cupcake - she also did one for her photoshoot. We all sang Happy Birthday to Bella while I definitely teared up. She was a little hesitant while everyone watched her waiting to smash the cake. Once we put her on the ground with the cake she went to town, and lots of her friends joined in too- which was so cute!
So many family members and friends were able to join us and make the day so special for Bella. She was under the weather and was such a trooper the whole day. We are so thankful for such a special celebration and all the memories made.

We had SUCH a fun day with our family and friends celebrating sweet Bella Charles turning ONE in her very own Candyland!!

Thanks so much for reading about our celebration and all the fun! Have a great week!
