We made sure to get some pictures with Mike and the beautiful bottle too, because it's just so pretty!
We had a sign for all the non-Pittsburgh natives to explain the tradition and some napkins and bags ready for use.
My Maid of Honor and Chuck's Best Man gave beautiful speeches. My Maid of Honor, and best friend Nicole was so sweet and gave me a copy of her speech so I could have it. One of my most favorite parts of her speech was when she mentioned how I get excited about things that many people overlook, like a beautiful sky. The whole speech was special, but I loved this little part of it.
I knew I wanted my Grandfather to do the prayer for the meal because he always prays before we enjoy a meal, and it meant a lot to have him do the honor. He was quite adorable and even prepared a brief speech before he began, and it just made my day. It was typical of my Grandfather which made me laugh...he can carry on a conversation with anyone so he loved having that mic in his hand.
I shared our wedding hashtag when I talked about the programs and pretty much everyone there knows we call each other Pants. What started years ago as "Loverpants" turned out to be "Pants" since Ethan couldn't say the whole thing and started cracking up saying just, Pants. So now the three of us are all, Pants.
I have a few tattoos and one day I was craving another but couldn't decide what I was going to get until a few hours later it came to me. I came home with a the word pants and a heart on my arm. Chuck's story is better and when him and the guys went to Canada for his bachelor party it took him a very long time to get home that Sunday. I started to get concerned when he walked in the door with his arm wrapped up. He told me he didn't want me to worry but some waitress at a restaurant spilled hot gravy on him and he had to go to the hospital. I flipped out and when he unwrapped his wrist he had a tattoo of a pair of pants on it. I couldn't believe it. So now we each have Pants tattoos and had to get a picture of them with our wedding hashtag at the wedding.
I knew I wanted to incorporate one of our wedding pictures into our thank you cards, so I made a small banner for us to hold during one of our shots.
Last but not least I wanted to share some pictures of Chuck and our friends, some of the groomsmen who had been friends for years. I unfortunately never had the pleasure of meeting one of the gang, Luke, because he passed away in the line of duty serving our country in 2005. When Chuck speaks of Luke it's with a sense of honor and his eyes light up and the biggest smile comes across his face. Anyone that can make Chuck talk like that I know is a good person. Luke served in the United States Army as an Army Ranger for a few tours in Iraq, and then returned as part of the Blackwater Security. Everyone I've ever met that mentions Luke says amazing things and I wish I would have met him.
Chuck wanted Luke in our wedding as a posthumous groomsman and of course we did. Chuck, Matt, and Josh tell the best stories of Luke and we have this picture of the four of them framed in our home. The guys recreated the picture and had a moment for Luke, and I love the way it turned out.
I can't believe it's almost time to end the recaps, I do have lots of other wedding related material to share for those planning, attending, or simply interested in weddings. Thank you for sharing in another Wedding Wednesday with me!
