Don't Lose Your Voice

Lately I've been hearing all the "how- to's" and "do this to make this happen" all over the blogging world. It seems that a lot of people are fed up and don't want to listen anymore. I get it, I really do. Of course I have some opinions on the subject, so I'm here to talk about them. My intent is not to criticize or diminish anyone's hustle, instead generate some discussion on the topic.

First, I'm pretty sure not everyone reading my blog is a blogger. I want to produce content that applies to a range of people. My mission is to put a smile on your face and show you that your dreams are possible.
What are you here to do? If it's to make money and help other bloggers than maybe you are producing workshops, writing books and showing people how you made it happen. If your goal is to share parts of your life with various subjects mixed in, then your style and approach is probably different than that of a largely income produced blog.

Second, while I value and appreciate all the visitors to my blog, the connections I have made and what blogging has done for me - at the end of the day I'm here for me. If I don't like what I'm doing and what I'm putting on my blog then there's a problem.
I'm not going to start vlogging because I think it will bring more views to my blog. I'm going to create a video because I have a passion for it, and bring it to this space to show you something and try to inspire and connect with you on a different level.

Third, everyone's blog is different. While I am sick of bloggers telling us that our Instagram feeds need to have a theme, that we should be getting paid to blog, or this should be a business for us--I realize that I don't have to listen to them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and views, and there is some that I just tune out.

I'm not saying I haven't been in a blogging funk. I've wondered why I haven't got a ton of comments on a post I thought was a winner. I've sat and stared at a computer screen wondering what I should say.
What I am telling you is-- Do YOU. Don't lose your voice. Sit down and write why you started in the first place.
We get inspiration, ideas, and find creativity in several ways. Me? I like to go outside and just live. I come up with post ideas in the weirdest places, like standing in line at the grocery store. The more pressure you put on yourself, I think the harder it gets to be original. So instead of sweating it, I get out there and do something else I love to do.
Some people start things to make money, others do it as a hobby, and others just need an outlet. For me, this is my happy place. The place where I push my limits and connect with other people I may have never met if it wasn't for this blog. I'm crazy, I'm sassy, I'm bold and all of those things will continue to be portrayed on my blog because it's my voice. I am passionate about living your dreams, making all the small moments big ones, and having fun with life.
I'm not here to compete with other bloggers, to impress anyone, or to feel bad about what I put on my blog every day and neither should you. Stand your ground, find your passion again and don't lose your voice.

I believe everyone has something to share and you deserve to put yourself out there in whatever way you choose. Dream big friends, whether it's sharing a something on your blog that scares you to publish, being a new mom, making a career change or just getting over the next life hurdle--you can do it. Stay true to you and live your life with your voice still in tact.
