We all know how I love a DIY project, especially when it's as easy as a school classroom party craft. I decided to keep a tree up year round, because I just couldn't part with taking all my Christmas decor down. I figure we can decorate it for Valentine's Day, my favorite holiday-Easter, and then take it down until fall when I put Halloween up.
My husband was really confused when one tree stayed up as all the holiday decorations were being put away. I'm pretty lucky he hasn't thrown it out the window....sorry not sorry husband, it's a party in this house and it's not ending anytime soon.
I needed something to add to the Valentine's tree and this garland was the perfect touch.
You will need:
Ribbon - I used a tulle type
Hot glue gun
Newspaper or scrap paper
Newspaper or scrap paper
How to make:
Lay newspaper or scrap paper down
Flip over the hearts to the back and put two small dots of glue on the top of the hearts
Place on the ribbon and press and hold for 5 seconds
Repeat the process until complete
I used all the same size hearts, but I think this would look great with varying sizes. I chose a range of color instead of switching up the size and like the color it brought to the tree. Seriously, anyone with a hot glue gun can make this in a matter of minutes and it's always fun to create something for your home.
I really love having a fun element in our living room and all the brightness it brings each day. Of course the tree is full of red, pink and cupcakes...it wouldn't be Valentine's Day without all of that.
Let's show this baby off now....
I thought that silver was most versatile to keep up throughout the year. The pink lights are from Amazon and the red heart lights are from the Target dollar bin (last year).
The cupcake ornaments I've had for years and am almost positive they came from Wal-Mart and were purchased during the Christmas season. I found a few tree picks at Walgreen's, of all places and picked them up--a few hearts and a few lips.
I think the pink lights really make it pop, and the garland really brings the element of fun. I love staring at it--all the heart eyes for this one!!
I have collected a few ornaments over the year's for various holidays because I love decorating so much. I always find great ones at Pier One. A sweet little owl is perched at the top of our tree this year and he is so cute.
