An Exciting Announcement & A Giveaway

Have you ever had a time in your life where you do something that you never thought you could do? Ever have that feeling of "YES!" that you didn't think was in you?

A few weeks ago that happened to me one Friday night. My Friday night's aren't quite what they used to be. Having a glass of wine while curling up on the couch and reading blogs or learning something new on the computer is my idea of fun these days. I was sitting here doing just that when I had an idea.

I love making printables and creating things to make people smile, laugh, or entertain. Making new things brings me this extreme sense of calm and relaxes me, but also stretches my imagination and I just keep going. I love that feeling...creating, living, and doing more. So what did I do?

I opened an Etsy shop called The Dreamy Details! I am starting with wall art on a mission to inspire you, put a smile on your face, and deep belly laugh. As I go on, I want to make more printables for various occasions- birthdays, bachelorettes, girl's nights out and everything in between. Come check it out on Etsy...dream a little, live a little, and hey-shop a little too!

"I can be your...Frappe Queen" Get it here from The Dreamy Details
This life is (as my husband says) Hashtag Blessed -- get your own blessings here

These are just a few of the items available for purchase in my Etsy shop. In celebration of my big announcement, I have teamed up with a group of amazing women to give you the chance to win a $125 Etsy gift card!

Good Luck, happy shopping...and don't forget to Dream Big- you never know where it will take you next.

February Favorites

I look back and can't even seem to remember the beginning of February. I don't love the months flying by, even though I'm dreaming of Spring...but I do enjoy recapping them. Having this space allows me to document things which makes for great memories.

Sharing some of my favorite links around the Internet, including some of my own--here's my favorites for this month:

Favorite Post About Blogging: Erika from Coming Up Roses shares the importance between branding and design...and yes, there is a difference.

Favorite Purchase: It's pretty simple, but a black and white version of one of my favorite wedding pictures to complete our entry way...for now.

Favorite Fashion Post: Samantha from Life & Messy Hair shows off her leather and flares. Two basics I can get simple and stunning.

Favorite Moment: Sending out Valentine's to my gal pals. I love some good ole' snail mail and finding the perfect little notes took me back to grade school. I loved hearing everyone's reactions made!

Favorite Recipe Post: My gals from The Sequin Notebook never fail when it comes to a cocktail. This black & white cookie martini  could find itself on repeat in my house!

Favorite DIY: Zoe shows us how to make a paper wrapped bouquet. I love flowers and brightening someone's day...I can't wait to try this out.

Favorite Instagram Pic: Shane shared this beautiful picture & reminded me to take in every single second.

Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course? Each of us has such a bank. It's name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against "tomorrow." You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success! The clock is running!! Make the most of today. 🕤🕤🕦 #imagine #truth

Our Wedding Venue: Wedding Wednesday

I remember when we got engaged and first discussed where the wedding would be held. I'm from Pittsburgh and Chuck loves the city too, so it was our ideal location. We started looking up venues online and after the first quote we received back we realized it probably wasn't going to happen.
I was sitting in my car at Ethan's bus stop waiting to pick him up after school and got the e-mail with the pricing from a venue we had our eye on in Pittsburgh. I cried...actually bawled when I faced the fact that we couldn't afford the location we had our eye on.

I didn't want a hotel wedding because it just isn't me and I didn't want an outdoor tent because the threat of weather scared me too much. We looked in to a location about 30 minutes away that had recently been taken under new ownership even though we were skeptical on if we could afford it.

Luckily, it was very reasonable for the amenities and what we were looking for in a wedding location. Plenty of room for out of town guests and a space to do almost anything- golf, swim, explore the grounds and a beautiful spot for a fall wedding.

We would get married outside on the back deck for an afternoon ceremony and party the night away inside at Peek'n Peak Resort in Clymer, New York. The location is only 30 minutes from our home so it was easy to travel to while planning, and a breeze the week of the wedding transporting items back and forth. When we initially toured the location we had a choice between three different spots to hold the wedding. We loved The Lodge, but it just felt too big. It holds 500 people and while it was beautiful we just didn't feel like it was the right fit. From the moment we walked in The Retreat we loved it. The beautiful ceilings, fireplace and the bar overlooking the dance floor was perfect for us.

I'll let some of the pictures do more explaining--

Picture perfect weather for our ceremony on the back deck of The Retreat.

Tall trees and sunshine made the perfect backdrop at the ceremony.

We took family pictures outside the front of The Retreat which turned out great.

Bridal party pictures were taken at the Upper Golf Course- 1 of 2 golf locations at Peek'n Peak

We may not be snowbirds--but this is one of my favorite pictures of our day. Look at that view! Peek 'n Peak is the top spot for skiing and boarding in the snowy winter months. I love the lifts in the background of this shot on top of the mountain.

We requested that the Bride & Groom be the first to see the decorated space. I LOVE all that light coming in!

We absolutely loved this room--it was intimate and big & beautiful all at the same time.

A view from the overlook from the balcony. More on those delicious cupcakes another day....

We couldn't have found a more perfect spot to celebrate our big day. It was unique, beautiful and  It was a fun place for our out of town guests to meet and check out. I love all the different pictures and gorgeous backdrops we have from our day throughout the entire resort.

Thanks for sharing another Wedding Wednesday with me...until next time!

The Husband Talks: Charlie Chat

You may remember reading some of the the Blogger Men Tell All series which I enjoy & Chuck of course loves. I've been wanting to do some more of you getting to know my husband for several reasons. He's my number one fan, and he's completely crazy and fun. So here's to a new series of my own...Charlie Chat.

Side note: I started calling Chuck by a different name after we took our Disney Cruise to the Bahamas. One of our stateroom waiters was a sweet Jamaican man, Kenloy, and on the first night he was asking us all if we had nicknames and what names we go by. He got to Chuck and said "Hello Charles. Do we call you Chuck, Charlie, Charles?" I busted out laughing and yelled out "Charlie?!" which Kenloy thought was serious and he's been Charlie ever since. I crack up almost every time I say it.

Let's get started. But before we begin here's the rundown.
My questions are in bold italics, Charlie's answers follow and my commentary, if any after the *asterisk.

How do you feel being the husband of a blogger?
Being the husband of THIS blogger makes me extremely proud. I know how much this space means to you and seeing the reaction I get when I tell people my wife blogs is a feeling that I can't really explain.

*Well isn't he sweet? I'm not kidding when I say he's my number one fan...I wouldn't be surprised if he's got my face on a foam finger somewhere.

If you had a blog, what would you write about?
I'm glad you asked this, because its something I've asked myself constantly. Obviously I'd talk about hot stocks and breaking sports stories. I'd sprinkle in some celeb gossip and weekly sneaker updates and since I'm so fashion-forward, I'd probably talk about $2600 Kanye sweaters. Oh, and baseball cards. I'd definitely post pics of my awesome cards I pulled at Dave's.

*Chuck once wanted to start a blog a few years ago "So this guy walked in to a cell phone store" about his daily stories from the industry and it would have been a hit. Also, he really is up on his celeb gossip- usually knows stuff before me.

What goes through your head when I ask you to take pictures for the blog?
"Jesus, I hope the neighbors don't think we're shooting the vanilla stuff for a dirty movie." This has also crossed my mind on multiple occasions.

* I told you he's crazy. Hope no children are reading.

What are some of your favorite posts I've written?
In order...Blogger Men Tell All Vol 1-all of them, the one the other day where I told you, "life isn't always about the page views," (sage advice, there) and then all the Wedding Wednesday stuff.

*He's loving this. Absolutely loving this friends...I'm glad he's reading ;)

Who is Tory Burch?
A lady (guy?) that charges WAY too much for handbags. Hey Tory, if you're reading this, bring it down a notch and if I could get these things at Target or Best Buy, that'd be great.

*Apparently Charlie isn't a fan of Neiman Marcus- because that's the only place he was able to find the bag he got me for Christmas. I swore he liked online shopping.

If you had to guess (this is me asking you to), how much money have I spent so far at Sephora this year?
Calendar or fiscal? I'd assume its north of 4 bills. Normally I wouldn't even know what to guess but there was a $245 brush on the browser the other day when I made the Verizon payment.

*Double those 4 bills...and I didn't buy the brush, I'm looking for a dupe.

I have to go to Target--are you coming with me and how long does it take us to make it through the entire store?
Preferably not and significantly less time if I stay out of your way at the Cashier stand.

*HA! I always bitch that he doesn't put things on the register in the right order. Who's the crazy one?!

So that, my friends, is my husband. I don't know what will come out of his mouth next...but that's one of the reasons our life is so fun.

Why You Should Never Give Up

I'm one of those people who went to college for Communications. Laugh if you will, the broad degree that can take you anywhere. After school, I had some jobs that were fun, some that made me some great money, and others that taught me life lessons. As I got older, I felt the need to validate myself and my degree and found myself trying to find my way in this world.

I was determined to find something that made me happy and kept me smiling from 9 to 5 because let's face it- we spend more time at work than we do at home. I've worked for large corporate companies and locally owned businesses but couldn't give up on finding my home away from home.

It's not easy to figure out what you want to do with your life...I don't care what anyone tells you. It's okay to change careers. It's okay to stand up for what you believe in. It's okay if you come home crying every day because you're miserable at work. I don't think it's fair to be unhappy, but don't let someone tell you that you shouldn't cry...because sometimes that's just what you need to do. Cry. Pick yourself up. Move on. Work hard.

A year and a half ago an opportunity came my way at a local salon and spa that I was a client of. I took the position and went to work like I always do...110% in from the start. I'm not here to pat myself on the back,  but I want to let you know something about me... I don't do anything with an "easy breezy" attitude. I'm fierce, I'm motivated and I'm ambitious. If you tell me I'm not doing something right I'm going to show you that I can do it and turn your thoughts about me right around.

I love my job and never thought I would get the chance to work somewhere so fun, so beautiful, and with such passionate people who share their talents in fun ways every day. As this blog has grown, so has my desire to do more, not just with this space...but with my life. I want to live my passion, show the world what I have to offer and put my ideas out there to see what happens with crazy dreams mix with real life.  I had to communicate my love for what I do and transfer that over to my workplace.

A few weeks ago I was offered a position at my current employer being the Social Media Director & Event Coordinator and I couldn't be happier. I'll be staying in my current Managerial role and taking this over as well and I am amped for the change. You know how I love events and I get to be working with all the beautiful brides who come in to share their special day with us, so that is going to be so exciting especially since I sort of miss wedding planning (yes, I'm crazy).

I couldn't be more excited to grow my career at a place I love and with people who believe in me and what I have to bring to the business. I already have so many great things in my head and can't wait to see where this new opportunity takes me in this business. Incorporating my love for the Social Media world and event planning in to my daily position is going to do good things for my soul.

Everyone has a purpose. You have a path. If you're not quite sure where it's leading you at first...I encourage you to never give up and see where it takes you. There's beautiful things ahead for all of us.

Why I Started Blogging

I've heard the question before and been asked it a few times. Why or how did you start blogging? A few years ago I stumbled upon a fitness and healthy lifestyle blog and was so intrigued by how this woman poured her heart out to the world every day. She inspired me and I found it amazing how connected I felt with someone I didn't even know.

I was a child who wrote stories upon storied and filled five subject notebooks with them. I once told a tale from the view point of a sea otter who was trapped and harmed from the Exxon Valdez oil spill and won an award for it. From there, my love took off in different ways. I wrote poems, essays, and I don't even mind perfecting a resume or cover letter. After my mom passed away I sort of lost my spark. My mom loved my writing and encouraged me to go to college for something in the field. She never laughed at my dreams of working in a big city writing for a magazine.

I never made it to New York City. Heck, I never made it out of Erie, Pa. I also would have never pictured myself as a blogger. Some people don't understand what this is all about, and that's okay. One day in 2014 I decided I had to do something more for ME. I wanted a hobby and I thought that maybe someone would read the things I had to say. I remember the first day I hit that orange publish button. I was overwhelmed with the support from my family and friends. They shared my post, gave me high fives and really made me feel good. The love I felt was really awesome, but the new found strength I found again in my soul was the icing on the cake.

Throughout the past (almost) 2 years I have gotten to know some of the most inspirational people. People who bare their hearts and souls through a computer screen. Women who are brave and tell stories of infertility, abuse and one's of finding strength through battles with anxiety. I have come to do things I would have never imagined. I find myself not scared to step in the kitchen and try something new. I purchased and frequently use my very own glue gun. I cry when I get an e-mail from someone telling me I have made their day by sharing a story or helping them relate to something.

Earlier this week I had a scheduling mishap and due to time, had to put two posts out on the same day. I woke up that day a little later than normal and checked my e-mail. Two comments, I only had two comments. I texted my husband and kind of questioned what I'm doing and what I'm here for.  He reminded me that life is not about the page views...seriously, those were his exact words. He asked me if I was happy and that as long as I was happy- then, why stop?

You see, life is sometimes a numbers game. Your salary, your bills, even your blog. It's important not to get caught up in the numbers and stay focused on the main objective. I started blogging for Me- and that may sound selfish, but that's what I'm going to continue to do. If I'm not being true to myself, then yes, what am I doing? As many big dreams and lofty goals I have for this space of mine I will always stay true to what's at heart and at the end of the day, that's my happiness.

I thank each and every one of you for your constant support and love. Seriously, each comment I receive truly makes me happy and I love getting to know you all better in some way. And to my number one fan...thank you for reminding me what's important and keeping me grounded.

Bridesmaid Gifts: Wedding Wednesday

While buying gifts for any occasion can be fun, it can also be overwhelming when it comes to buying for a group. I had so many ideas saved on Etsy and pinned on Pinterest but I wanted to pick out things that were useful, special and something everyone in the group would love.

wedding gifts for bridesmaids

The very first thing I purchased were these monogrammed jewelry dishes from Showered With Design on Etsy and had each bridesmaid's initial put in them in purple. Lisa did a beautiful job with them and got them done in such a quick turn around even though I ordered them way early.

I just love personalized hangers...I think they are perfect gifts and a fun item to have in your closet. I searched Etsy forever and just couldn't afford paying $20 a piece for them, especially when I had 7 bridesmaids. One night I was online and came across The Elite Bride on Etsy and couldn't get over her affordable prices. I first ordered 2 hangers for my flower girls to ensure the quality matched up with the price. When they arrived, I seriously couldn't believe how amazing they turned out. I immediately ordered one for each bridesmaid and myself (because I just couldn't resist).

bridal hangers

I knew part of the bridesmaid's gift wasn't going to be given to them at the rehearsal, because I wanted a fun element  added to the morning of the wedding at the salon while we were getting ready. I purchased the infamous Anthropologie monogram mugs for my girls to have while drinking coffee, mimosas and having fun getting beautified. An added surprise made it pretty fun for everyone, and I loved having something that we all had and matched.

bridesmaid mugs

Most brides give jewelry as part of the gifts, and I wanted to do the same. I had a difficult time at first finding something I wanted everyone to wear. I am a fan of HUGE earrings, but not everyone loves the same thing. I didn't want necklaces due to the style of the dress, and not everyone wears bracelets every day like I do so I stuck with earrings. You've heard me talk about my love for Frou Frou & Frill before, and I already knew my bridesmaids loved them since I purchased them all crystal rock cuffs as a thank you for planning my bridal shower.  The owner, Jocelin is not only kind, but she's insanely helpful, fashionable and patient. We talked over what I wanted in length, she sent me numerous pictures and I finally decided on something simple for my bridesmaids. Jocelin even sent me a pair for myself, which was just so sweet. If you're looking for affordable and elegant jewelry for your big day, Frou Frou & Frill can definitely help make your wedding beautiful.

frou frou frill wedding

Last but not least, I included a pink lip gloss for each bridesmaid that was a pretty pink hue and long lasting so they wouldn't have to reapply much throughout the day. The nice thing about this lip gloss from Younique is that it has a little mirror on the side for perfect application.

I also purchased cards from Brittany Fuson Paper to write my "thank you" to each bridesmaid. I absolutely love Brittany's work and actually used her "Will You Be My Bridesmaid" cards when I asked all of my ladies to stand by my side.

I had wanted to make something for each girl but just ran out of time, because wedding planning and working a full time job is no joke.

Some tips for brides to be when it comes to choosing gifts:
Write down ideas as you think of them so you don't forget.
Keep your whole group in mind.
Buy early and budget- add it in to your overall wedding budget.
If you find something you love & it costs too much--don't stop looking. There's deals everywhere!

I can't wait to show you what Chuck did for his groomsmen gifts, but I want to hear from you. What do you want to see next Wedding Wednesday?

Beauty On A Budget // Brows

It's time for another month of Beauty On A Budget with my beautiful friend Lindsay from Bourbon, Lipstick & Stilettos and this month is all about brows.

beauty on a budget

I'll admit, I didn't start paying attention to my brows until maybe 3 years ago. I didn't fill them in, rarely waxed them, and didn't do much routine maintenance. Now I've learned that your brows can make a statement and use something daily.

A few years ago I went to the Benefit Brow Bar at Ulta for the first time and fell in love with the Gimmie Brow product they used on me and had been using it for the past few years. I love it, but the price tag isn't so appealing and recently when I ran out I was on the hunt for something just as great that was more budget friendly.

Maybelline Brow Drama Shaping Mascara to the rescue! I love that it has a brush very similar to the Benefit kind. There is a larger ball shape on the end of the wand that Benefit does not have, and I found this great for blending the product in to the brows. There is a handful of shades, including a transparent one if you are looking for something to help keep your brows in check all day.

best brow mascara

I found that a good amount of color comes out on the wand when you pull it out of the tube so I scrape some of the excess on the tube before applying it to my brows. I start on the inner part of my brow which is the largest and takes up some of the color from the wand, and brush it outward. Before dipping the wand in again, I go over my brows once more to get the color in place and fill in where I need to.

maybelline brow drama

I was spending $24 on the Benefit Gimmie Brow, and now found a great similar product for only $7 which can't be beat. I purchased the shade Dark Brown and it is perfect for my hair color. I highly recommend this stuff if you're looking for a product to give your brows volume, depth and color.

What are you using for your brows these days? What do you want to see next from our Beauty On A Budget Series? Don't forget to check out Lindsay's post on brows too!

Meet the February Dreamers & Sponsors

I am so happy to have a brand new group of beautiful faces on my sidebar and blog this month. Getting to know bloggers better has been my favorite part of the advertising process so far- and this month is no different.

When I look at this great group- the first thing that comes to mind is Inspirational. From a gracious blogging guru to a Louisiana sweetheart who loves the Pittsburgh Steelers (YES!) , a genuine soul who is writing her own novel and a social worker, counselor & life coach who is boldly encouraging...I couldn't welcome a more awesome group to the Dream Big & Buy the Shoes space for this month. I encourage you to get to know them better --you won't be disappointed. PSST: There's a few spots left for next month.

What is your biggest dream? Don't be shy, you know we love to Dream Big in these parts.

My biggest dream blog wise is to still have this blog of mine going strong and have faithful readers that enjoy visiting it and interacting. I want to be able to find the balance of posting what my readers want to read and staying true to what I love to write about as well.

Traveling gives me complete happiness. If I could play Oprah & send you on a trip, where would you be heading on a jet plane?

If you medicate me to get me on the plane I am good to go.....take me to France and Italy please....heck...throw in Greece and Ireland too. :)

Emily- Ember Grey

Let's start out with something easy. I love cupcakes. What's your favorite treat?

Chips & Salsa! (I've been known to eat this for breakfast. Weekly.)

What is your biggest dream? Don't be shy, you know we love to Dream Big in these parts.

I am currently in the "throes" of writing a novel - my biggest dream is to have it published one day!

Traveling gives me complete happiness. If I could play Oprah & send you on a trip, where would you be heading on a jet plane?

There are so many places I'm dying to travel to right now (London, Ireland) but I would LOVE to return to Paris. My husband and I adventured our way through that beautiful city last spring and I'm pretty sure parts of my heart and soul were left there when we returned home.

What's your favorite thing about your blog & why?

I have always loved to write and to connect with others on a greater level and I feel that my blog has been just the space to do that. While I am currently on a bit of a blogging hiatus at the moment (although I do pop in here and there), I love knowing that I can always return. My blog is a safe place for me!

Sheryl- How to Make a Life

Let's start out with something easy. I love cupcakes. What's your favorite treat?

My favorite treat has to be The Cheesecake Factory's Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake.

What is your biggest dream? Don't be shy, you know we love to Dream Big in these parts.

My goal is to include motivational speaking and trainings along with seeing private clients in my counseling practice.

Traveling gives me complete happiness. If I could play Oprah & send you on a trip, where would you be heading on a jet plane?

I would be heading to a safari in Africa - but only after a layover (of a week or two) in Europe

where I would do some shopping in Paris.

What's your favorite thing about your blog & why?

My blog is a creative outlet for me and I love that posts I write provide motivation and speak to those who read them.

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas, Printables & Giveaway

Valentine's Day--it comes every year and sometimes I find myself running out of gift ideas and I'm sure our significant others do too. Today I have a great roundup of gift ideas that are perfect for Valentine's Day and would even go great in an Easter basket or to surprise someone special on Mother's Day. Of course I have a gift of my own for you  and a fun giveaway as a sweet treat too!

Savvy Sleepers use the highest quality satin that is seriously so smooth. The Savvy Sleepers are anti-aging for your skin and help protect hair from breakage--it's like a beauty treatment while you sleep. They have a secret pocket for hair ties, a little soothing lavender, or some love notes for your Valentine to slip in. I chose the Black Truffle since our bedroom is black and white and love sleeping on it every night. It's a pillowcase perfect for any big dreamer.

Case App has awesome custom cases and custom skins for your phone and laptops. I love the skins because they bring some creativity to your electronics, protect against scratches and personalize something that can be kind of blah. I chose this beautiful gold and white skin for my MacBook and love the way it transformed my laptop.

**Treat yourself or your lover! CaseApp has offered all of my readers 20% off for one week with code "DREAMBIG20"

Frou Frou & Frill has the trendiest accessories for amazing prices. I think the customer service and beautiful accessories with the added bonus of FREE shipping EVERY DAY is what draws me to shop there the most.
