This past weekend he had an assignment for school where he had to make a recipe on his own including at least 3 ingredients he had to measure. Like the awesome little dude he is, he chose chocolate chip cookies and used this new (to us) amazing recipe they had tried in school.
You will need:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 stick butter, softened
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1/2 cup chocolate chips
To make:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a small mixing bowl combine: flour, baking soda & salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl soften butter with an electric mixer or put in microwave for 20-30 seconds.
Mix in sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add egg and mix for 1 minute.
Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture and stir.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on to cookie sheet.
Bake for 9-11 minutes at 350.
Pour yourself a large glass of milk & enjoy!
I'm not just saying this because he's adorable, but they are the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever tasted. I think the brown sugar makes them a hit, or the love added by this sweet little guy.
They are most perfect when enjoyed on a beautiful day after you don't have to clean the kitchen (because it's also part of the assignment).
Have a great Tuesday, hopefully one filled with a sweet treat!
