You will need:
A letter (I've used wood twice & have found it works very well)
I purchased the letter and flowers at Hobby Lobby but you can find them at almost any craft store. The first letter I did was an L for my bridal shower and our wedding and chose one color flower.
For my friend's baby shower I wanted to make it a few colors and something that would pop in the nursery. She had sent me a picture of the bedding and I tried to match it as close as I could.
I fell in love with the big blue flower and drew inspiration around that piece of it. I really had fun with this piece and unfortunately didn't get pictures along the way because I was so focused and in to my work.
Cut off stems of the faux flowers so you can lay them out and see how many you will need. I bought 3 bunches for the multi-colored flower. It depends on how big they are, but I think the more unique and varied the better.
Once you know where you want to place your flowers, or if you don't know and want to fly by the seat of your DIY pants....hot glue each one individually. Once you place the flower press and hold on to the letter for about 5 seconds to make sure it's in place and secure.
Continue this process until finished...each of mine took about 30 minutes. The colored one took a little more thought but I seemed to get a better rhythm and pattern going since it was the second time making one.
I laid out a few of the initial flowers but went with my gut for the rest. I placed the colors next to each other that I thought looked best. Once I was finished I decided it needed more pink. The swoop of pink down the S was unplanned, but I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out.
I put this letter along with my DIY Cupcake Onesie's and some other gifts for the shower. I would love to make more of these and have decided I'm totally for hire! Shoot me an e-mail if you are looking for a great gift and I would be happy to make one for you.
What's your favorite latest DIY? I'm always up for making new things.
