DIY Cupcake Onesie Gift

I have a few friends who are pregnant right now, and I can't tell you how happy that makes me. Both of them have struggled with fertility and seeing them glow and be pregnant at the same time is truly a miracle.

I am a fan of shopping from someone's registry, whether it be for a baby or wedding, in the most annoying store with numbered and lettered aisles...I still make the attempt. I like to buy a few things from their desired list and then come up with something else on my own.
Last month when I was trying to decide what to make my friend who is having twins, I came across a super cute DIY and put my own twist on it.

I believe that my soul is meant to craft. I can't believe those words are coming out of my mouth, but I am in my true element when I'm creating. It's so relaxing and rewarding. I can't wait to show you what else I've worked on in the past several months.

For this DIY, you will need:

A cupcake or bakery box ( I got a set at 4 at Wal-Mart for a few dollars)
2-4 onesies ( I think short sleeve ones work best)
2-4 pairs of socks
Cupcake liners
A bow

First you will lay the onesie out flat
Next, fold it lengthwise as shown below

Fold once more to make the onesie very thin

At the bottom of the onesie, place one of the 2 socks with the toe facing out to the left. Don't put too much out, just enough to make it stick out from the top a little once the onesie is rolled up

Lay the second sock over the top of the first one with the top of the sock laying out to the right hand side

With the 2 socks laying on the onesie roll it from the bottom (sock end) to top

Once the onesie is rolled up take the sock that has the top of it open (that was on the right side) and roll the sock outward to create and secure a base for the "cupcake"

The left sock should be sticking out of the top to create a "cherry on top" look and then you can set the cupcake liner underneath your cupcake onesie

Finally, place your cupcakes and anything else you would like in the box. These particular cupcakes are for my friend expecting a baby girl so I chose colors of pink with liners decorated in hearts.

Since this gift is for a baby girl I opted to use a headband to double as a bow for my box this time around. I put some other headbands in a basket with her other gifts and used this one to add a final touch to the box.

I love the way these turned out. I am SO obsessed with cupcakes so it's the perfect gift for me to give at a baby shower. The idea of making something my own in addition to something from the registry makes it extra special.

For more great gift ideas be sure to follow me on Pinterest...there's some cool things pinned on my "Gift Giving" board. I can't wait to show you what else I made for this baby shower gift in a few weeks. Stay tuned for more DIY projects to come...

Have a wonderful weekend friends!!
