Guest Post // Green Fashionista: Enjoying Your Wedding Day

Good morning Dream Big and Buy the Shoes readers! I'm Kate and you can find me blogging over on my little corner of the internet Green Fashionista where I blog about everything from fashion and beauty finds, recipes, my weekend shenanigans, and travel. Hop on over and say hi! I'm excited to fill in for the lovely Emelia today as she's waist deep in all the excitement of her fabulous wedding!

After 16 months of wedding planning, we were not just looking forward to the wedding day itself and seeing all of our hard work and planning coming together, but to finally be married. It was a beautiful day where most things went smoothly, but there were some small bumps that I'll share so that no one makes the same mistakes I did.

Enjoy time with your girls in the bridal suite while getting your hair and makeup done, and make sure you eat and drink plenty of water! I didn't even though there were sandwiches and fruit platters in the bridal suite I barely had anything to eat and just sipped on champagne. This led to me feeling sick while taking pictures before the ceremony, and having to be taken away where my mom and wedding coordinator had to cool me down with wet cloths, and feed me crackers and ginger ale. No fun! It was a combination of the heat, not having eaten enough, and my dress being laced up too tight.

Make sure the photographer gets some nice bridal portraits as well as some candid photos of the groom with the guys.

I know it's not for everyone, but we are so happy we did a first look/private reveal. It was so nice to have that moment be private for us to talk, laugh, hug, and cry before walking down the aisle in front of hundreds of people. And it took absolutely nothing away from my walk down the aisle, I was still super emotional and on cloud nine as I walked towards my groom.

Take as many pictures as possible prior to the ceremony, this is another reason I loved having a first look. It was so nice to be able to have more time with my guests by being able to be at cocktail hour instead of off somewhere else taking pictures.

Don't stress about the weather (I did), because it's the one thing you have absolutely no control over. I stressed about the weather the whole 16 months of planning since we booked the venue that we did for the water views and having the ceremony and cocktail hour outside. Leading up to the ceremony, the weather looked iffy but held off and everything went on as planned. But if you end up needing to resort to Plan B, just remember that at the end of the day you're marrying the love of your life and you're celebrating with your closest friends and family which is priceless.

Take time with your groom to peek inside the reception room prior to it beginning so you can see all of your months of planning and projects come together, and take in all the details.

Make sure you get to eat that delicious food from the menu you picked out. We were served first so we could eat, and then go do table visits while everyone else was still seated.
Take time and soak everything in, and get out there and party! This is the only day you'll have everyone you love all together in one room, so make sure you celebrate with everyone!
Now it's time to live your happily ever after!

Congratulations Emelia! I can't wait to see pics of your big day, you're going to be a stunning bride!

....Thank you so much Kate, you're such a sweetheart and sure made a beautiful bride. I can't wait for all of you to see who's joining me the next few days. Until then...XO!
