This post is coming a bit late, since I made it for our Cinco de Mayo celebration but I promise it is still just as good for any Taco Tuesday. We love enjoying varieties of taco meals in our house so I wanted to try something new and this was a hit.
You will need:
13x9 dish
1 large bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos
1 lb. ground beef
1 package taco seasoning
2 cups shredded cheese
1 package crescent rolls
1 can tomato sauce
1 tbsp. onion powder
To make:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Open cresent rolls and seperate
Press rolls in to bottom of dish to make a base for the casserole
Brown hamburger and drain
Add taco seasoning with a little water and onion powder
Simmer for 5-7 minutes
Remove from heat and combine with tomato sauce in a bowl
Crush Doritos in to medium size pieces
*you don't want them to be too small in crumbs, so crushing them once with your hand worked well for me
Layer 1/2 the Doritos on top of the crescent rolls
Layer 1/2 the ground beef on top of the Doritos
Layer with 1 cup of cheese
Repeat once more with the other half of Doritos and ground beef
Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees
Remove and top with additional 1 cup of cheese
Bake for 15 more minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly
What's your favorite taco dish?
