You Are Beautiful: Loving Every Size

When I was growing up I never paid attention to the my size, the size of my friends, or many others for that matter. I find it so sad that young women these days constantly compare themselves to others, and there are so many reasons why. Society tells us to be small, the fashion and beauty industry thinks everyone should look a certain way, and peer pressure encourages us to not be overweight.

Where are the magazine ads telling us to be a good person? When is the last time you compared yourself to someone else based on what's inside?

I've mentioned before that I have put on some weight in the past few years. I struggle with it a lot and wish I was someone who is more motivated by working out, or someone who enjoys getting their frustration out with a good run. I'm not either of those people and I'm not sure I will ever be, so working out is a daily battle. Most days I end up losing, and it's a vicious cycle of being tired and not working out, but battling the "you have no energy because you aren't active enough" talk in my head.

While I still get judged, and am sometimes  hard on myself about my weight I have realized that as I get older I have become more secure I am with myself, on all fronts.
I find that I am less concerned with the size of my pants, and more focused on the difference I am making in the world.
 I used to be a pessimist. I was a brat. I judged people way too easily. I thought the worst of every situation. I was downright depressed. I'm not quite sure if a certain event happened, or multiple situations that made me change the way I view the world and the people in it.

It's baffling to me that so much pressure is put on the way we are supposed to look, and less on how we treat other humans.

Ladies, stop worrying about the size of your dress. The size of your heart is what really matters. You won't get far with a size small, but I promise you a heart of gold will make all the difference in this crazy world that we all need.

  3. First of all girl you are beautiful! Secondly.. love this so inspirational! I gained a lot of weight when we moved to Florida, and was inactive for a while. Once I pushed myself to get back into a workout routine it became easier as time went on, and the best part is when it becomes part of your routine it feels weird when you miss a day or two. And you are totally right that becoming more active gives you more energy. Whenever I'm absolutely exhausted and I push myself to workout after a long day at work, I always feel so much better afterwards. You've got this gurlie :)

  5. Thank you so much Carissa, that really means a lot. I struggled with anorexia in 8th-9th grade but really it was overshadowed by depression so there were alot of other issues surrounding it. I am glad you are in a better place now and hope that you know that you are beautiful. Your comments are so kind, and you are such a sweet friend!
