Best Ways To Chill Out

When I get stressed out or tense, it's hard for me to snap out of my mood. I am working on ways to let things roll off my back easier, but I'm trying new methods to unwind and chill out.

Hot Shower

Nothing makes me feel more refreshed than a steaming hot shower. If I had a bad day, I get in the shower and cry it out while the water washes away the negative thoughts. I let it all out, and stand under the water to regain some positivity and press re-start on my day.

A lavender soap can make things even more relaxing and I swear it really does work. Bath and Body Works has an aromatherapy line that I highly recommend. I've used the sheet spray, the candles, and some lotions and they have all been great.

LUSH Cosmetics also has amazing products to help you relax...bath bombs and massage bars all jam packed with heavenly smells. I could probably sleep in the store if I had to...just look at the place, give me ALL the scents!

Good Drive Blasting My Favorite Music

I love driving, especially with no place to go. Driving can seem like such a task to some people, but it's one of my favorite ways to relax. Usually on my drive home from work I turn the music off and let myself go in the silence of the trip.
When I need to get away I sometimes hop in my car and go for a little drive blasting my favorite music. There's certain songs that make me happy, and the minute I put them on my day gets better.

Painting

While I must admit, the first time I went to a Paint Nite was a bit stressful; I'm not an artist, and the easy class went a little too fast for my liking on the first round. But I can say, this is an activity I could see myself doing to relax enjoy some peace with other adults. Trying something new doesn't have to be stressful, especially if you let yourself go, and escape in the unknown.

Some Quiet Time With a Cup of Coffee or Tea

There's something to be said about cozying up in your favorite spot with a warm cup of coffee or tea. It's like the world's problems melt away and you can rest easy with your thoughts. Lately at night I have been making a cup and unplugging myself from everything. No phone, internet, computer...just me and a nice big cup full of love. It's a nice way to recap the good moments of the day, or let go of the bad ones and unwind before bed.

  13. Great tips! I love taking hot baths, and am going crazy because my current apt doesn't have a bath tub. It's absolutely terrible and I want to move for that reason alone.

  17. My favorite thing is on Fridays after work I put on my pjs and sometimes don't move from my couch and tv. It's the one day I let myself just do what I want to.
