Battle Of The K-Cups

I recently took a poll on my Facebook page to see if anyone out there uses a Keurig. It seems that a good amount of people use a Keurig on a consistent basis, whether it be at home or work.
The variety of K-Cups out there since I first received this heavenly machine is amazing, so why not have a showdown to see which flavor is best?

The flavors I am filling you in on today are some of my favorites in the K-Cup world and come highly recommended by yours truly.

The contenders:

Donut Shop- Coconut Mocha
Cake Boss- Chocolate Fudge Cake & Chocolate Canoli
Gloria Jeans- Caramel Almond Torte
Starbucks- Cinnamon Dolce
Green Mountain- Golden French Toast

Donut Shop Coconut Mocha
This one has a strong aroma of coconut, which is one of the best parts about it. I love coconut, so the smell while brewing is amazing. I don't taste much mocha while drinking it, so I wouldn't recommend this one if you're not a big coconut fan.

Price: $14 for 18 cups on Amazon

Cake Boss Chocolate Fudge Cake & Chocolate Canoli
These are a newer purchase for me; I think I saw another blogger post a picture of their K-Cups which made me look them up and get some for myself. I couldn't decide which to try first from the variety I recieved, so naturally I went for the chocolate flavors to start.
The Chocolate Fudge Cake is the more chocolaty of the two and is so delicious. It's not too sweet or too much chocolate, which makes is just right.
The Chocolate Canoli is a little on the sweeter side, and has is definitely less powerful on the chocolate front of the two. I'm not sure what I was expecting it to taste like, but it didn't taste like a canoli. I did love it though, so it's still a great choice for any chocolate lovers.

Price: $20 for 16 cups on Amazon for a Cake Boss variety pack

Gloria Jean's Caramel Almond Torte
I am a huge Starbucks Caramel Macciato fan, so when I hear the word Caramel it's immediately something I gravitate towards. I hate to say it, but I wasn't a fan of this one. Some caramel is just too sweet to me, and this was one of them. I thought the almond would make it even better, but I think that's what put it over the top. This flavor was a big disappointment, but live and learn...life goes on.

Price: $21 for 20 cups on Amazon for a variety pack

Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce
There's no denying that I'm obsessed with Starbucks, I'm sorry but my at home coffee doesn't ever compare to theirs. Cinnamon Dolce Latte's are a Starbucks staple and an old favorite of mine. When I saw they came in K-Cup form I knew without a doubt that I had to have them. Of course, they didn't let me down. These tasty cups taste just like a cup from my favorite place, which is a win for me.

Price: $25 for 32 cups at Starbucks

Green Mountain Golden French Toast
The name alone makes my heart jump for joy. I mean...French Toast, in coffee form...come on! I first discovered these K-Cups at Bed Bath & Beyond after I got my Keurig for Christmas when I was browsing for some flavors to try. This one immediately stood out to me and I've been buying it ever since. I almost cried when I realized I couldn't find it at any of my local stores anymore, but the always faithful Amazon came to the rescue. Every time I am drinking this coffee I hear comments like "I smell syrup, it smells so good" or "Is someone eating waffles or something?"...it's great.

Price: $19 for 24 K-Cups on Amazon

My Overall Thoughts:
I am loving the Cake Boss K-Cup Flavors for a new variety and options to check out multiple K-Cups. The flavors are all original and very good. The Starbucks Cinnmaon Dolce is classic goodness and a good one to keep around. My favorite of the bunch and the  definite winner is the Golden French Toast from Green Mountain. Nothing has topped this flavor yet and I'll be surprised if anything ever does, I love it!

  1. Our K-cup broke (after years and years) and we use a regular drip machine now. But you are making me miss the k-cup. Looks like a lot of great options.

  2. I love our Keurig but always felt so bad using one of those plastic cups for one cup of coffee... I ended up purchasing the metal K-cup that can be washed and reused and then just fill it with my coffee of choice! It's almost just as easy!

So sad that the Caramel Almond Torte wasn't as good as you thought it would be - I would've picked that one too!

  5. I was spending so much money on K-cups that I finally bought a reusable k-cup. I have 3 actually and they are awesome. I can use them with any type of coffee that I want and they work pretty well. I just couldn't imagine spending $50/week on k-cups (yes, I really did spend that amount each week). It wasn't worth it to me. So, hello reusable. It's perfect and just what I needed.

  6. We got like 200 free k-cups from the food bank my uncle runs and I have to say some of my favorites are Green Mountain (brand in general), 8 O clock Colombian peaks, and donut shop! We haven't even had to buy our own (thankfully since they are expensive, and we use our french press more often anyways), but I will keep these in mind next time we do!

  7. I still haven't jumped on the K-thing. My boyfriend had one and gave it away because he thought it was silly to only make one cup of coffee. I was pissed because sometimes you only need one!
