DIY Baby Soft Sprinkled Sugar Scrub

If LUSH  rented out beds to live in their stores, I would be all over it.  It would work out most perfectly for my night time routine. My favorite products at LUSH are their scrubs. Most recently I tried the Ocean Salt Cleanser and the Popcorn Lip Scrub.

Name something that doesn't smell better than babies after bathtime. Yep...I've got nothin.
So let's all get smelling and feeling real good with my Baby Soft Sprinkled Sugar Scrub. It will leave you smelling heavenly with super soft skin, so try not to eat your arm after you're done.

You will need:

2 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup baby oil
1/4 cup baby wash
candy sprinkles to top

To make:

Mix all ingredients together in one bowl. If you like a fluffier scrub you can add in more sugar.
Top with sprinkles for decoration and incredible cuteness and fun.

I mean, it just looks pretty. Who wouldn't want to use this to exfoliate in the shower?

It takes about 3 minutes to make and makes for a great gift for any occasion, especially a birthday.

Make sure to store in a cool, dry place in between use. I store mine in a small mason jar. When gifting, bottle up and tie a ribbon around it for a fun gift.

What's your favorite part of your nightly routine?

Link Up Announcement: You Are Beautiful

I am really, like bouncing in my seat & smile across my face so big that it hurts, excited about an announcement today.

Lauren, from Lot 48 and I are starting a bi-weekly linkup called "You Are Beautiful."
Our goal with this linkup is to spread positive vibes while struggling through female issues, primarily weight loss and body image issues. When you are struggling with the scale you tend to feel alone, when in reality, there are so many of us out there feeling the exact same thing day in and day out.

Weight loss isn't easy, just like a lot of other things in life. It seems to be the number one thing most women struggle with and wish they could change about themselves. Instead of judging other women for their choices with the struggle-such as which diet they are on, what they choose to eat on the weekends, or their time spent in the gym...why aren't we building each other up?
Body image isn't the only thing us females deal with. There are so many factors that can affect our moods and behaviors. Infertility, abuse, struggles in our careers...but we are all beautiful at the end of the day.
Let's be honest with one another.
Allow yourself to let it all out and share how you are feeling. You don't know who else you are helping...

Details about the linkup:

  • Bi-weekly on Thursdays. Next week, February 5th will be the first day and then the 19th, and so on.
  • Grab a button and link back to our blogs. Super huge hugs and a big shotout to Ashley from The Grits Blog for designing our sparkly button of love.
  • You Are Beautiful
  • The linkup will last one week, so you have until then to add your posts.
  • Whether you are dealing with weight loss struggles, anxiety issues, or just want to spread some positivity about what's going on in your are welcome to join us!
The blogging community is such a wonderful place, and I hope our honesty and sharing the raw stories about our struggles will help support and empower others.
We are all beautiful.

I look forward to reading everyone's posts next week. Join us on Thursday February 5th for the first linkup.

Buffalo Chicken White Chili

It's been a while since I've tried out a new recipe, but I really would love to do this at least twice a month. Let's just say this is 1 of my 2 for February and January was a free pass.

 Ok, great. Moving on.

Chili. It's a winter staple. I could eat it almost every day. Amazing stuff, right? Right.
Well, when I found a remix that looked right up my alley I couldn't wait to try it.

Blogger Men Tell All// January 2015

You know what it is, Chuck's favorite time of the month. Apparently his friends too..."Your best posts are where you ask Chuck questions" they say. Well, let's get to bringing you the best post of the month.

What is your favorite memory with your blogger?

My favorite memory is a trip we took to Illinois. We drove to a small town outside of Chicago for our friends' wedding and it was an adventure. It was like we were in a different world in the middle of nowhere with some of our closest friends. The resort where the wedding was held was one of the nicest places and it was a really good weekend.

What is her best quality?

I like that she is down for whatever. When I have ideas, even terrible ones, it doesn't take her a whole lot to go along with it. We can wake up one morning in Erie and end up in Canada or somewhere crazy by the afternoon.

What is something you two enjoy doing together?

Enjoying summer. We take advantage of where we live. We love fireworks, the amusement park, walks at the peninsula, and eating at a local old school diner. All those things mean a little more when it's 13 degrees like today.

What is your favorite post of hers that she has ever written?

All the ones about me. Every single one. People love them the most, and they get the most attention on the blog. It makes Emelia a happier person and that's all the much better.

How much time do you think your blogger puts in to blogging each week? What are you normally up to while she's blogging?

She probably puts about 20 hours in to her blog per week. You can generally find me on PlayStation, going through my football cards or hanging out with my favorite son.

One thing you can always count on with Chuck is his honesty, and of course his willingness to participate in these posts.

It's Going To Be A Good Week

I am really looking forward to this week. When your weekend is awesome, your week is bound to be even better.

Friday night we went to Ethan's school for Movie Night. Every few months they show a movie that has already been to the theaters, but it's still fun to go so he can hang out with his buddies and have some fun. Everyone brings chairs and blankets and lounges in the gym. There's cheap snacks and family fun baskets they raffle off. We saw The Lego Movie  and it was just as funny was the first time we saw it.

Saturday night was a blast. We went to a newer place called Cloud 9 Wine Bar to celebrate one of my best friend's birthdays, (Hi Elisa)!! Elisa's plan was to enjoy a few cocktails and some cheesecake. Chuck & I hadn't eaten dinner so we got a few munchies. I opted for the maccaroni and cheese bites, and Chuck enjoyed some BBQ poutine. He gets some form of poutine every time we go to Canada, so it was kinda cool to enjoy some in Erie.

roadtrips to canada
stolen snapchat backseat selfie courtesy of the fun birthday girl

We had a few drinks and were deciding where the rest of the night was going to take us when we realized we all had our passports and should head to Canada since the night was young. Unfortunately, true to Erie nature, the Mother of all Nature changed our plans. It was a sheet of ice and we made the choice after 30 minutes on the road not making it far driving that we should stay in Erie. We headed to the casino and continued to celebrate.

Chuck won $350, the birthday girl had her fun playing Super Jackpot Party, and my babe showed Elisa's friend who was in town visiting how to master the slots.

I vote that my friends have birthdays every. single. weekend.

In other great news here's a few other things.

I am going to see FLEETWOOD MAC on Saturday night in Buffalo. Yay for awesome Christmas presents!

Chelsea featured me on her beautiful blog this weekend, you can read it here.

Some experimenting is going down this week with a DIY and a new look for those upcoming posts.

A blogger friend and I have a project in the works that will be announced soon, and I am REALLY excited about it.

We have a WINNER from the Fancy Fun Giveaway: check it out here to see if it's you!

Why The Internet Is Awesome

The internet is an awesome place.
I'm not going to waste your time telling you about things you already know or didn't need told. (I truly believe Google has saved my life 2,324,982 times).

If  you have never used the app Vine...I'm sorry. It is old news, but the videos are still relevant (to making you laugh when you most need it). Seriously, if you're having a bad day I highly suggest heading to Vine immediately.
Vine is a place where people can post short videos or clips no longer than six, technically 6.5 seconds. The videos play on a loop until you stop them to go watch another awesome one.

Now introducing...a few reasons why I laugh until I cry a few times a week sitting alone on the couch:

This adorable boy trying to give a shout-out to his Mama...and she quickly corrects him on the lyrics. Poor kid! If I were him I would probably throw a fit like this next girl.

At least she has it all figured out. Who doesn't want a nap after a rough day?!

And then there's that feeling you get when you have a fresh new pair of shoes

Uncle Jesse ANDDDD Urkel...YES!
And last but not least....because this is most of us, most days....well at least me-that's for sure.

She's honest. I respect that.

I love the internet.

Ever use Vine? What's your favorite vine?

Life Currently

Happy Thursday friends! I can't believe how fast the week is flying...sometimes that's both good and bad. Today I'm sharing another round of what's currently happening in my life.

Let's begin....

Watching: Dance Moms. Even though I said a few years ago that I would never watch it. I love to see flashes of PITTSBURGH on TV, and it makes me laugh.

Wishing: I was rid of this migraine. I didn't drink coffee today and this is the result. I wish that a lack of caffeine didn't have this effect on me, but I guess my addiction is a little justified.

Craving: Olive Garden salad. Good thing that craving is getting satisfied tonight when we go out to celebrate my soon to be sister-in-law's birthday. Yessss!

Reading: Not a thing, except my usual blogs. I need a new book to read. I have a few in mind, but need to download them on my iPad.

Needing: A pedicure. I wish these places were open at 10 pm when I actually have the time for one.

Wondering: If you entered my giveaway, who doesn't want jewelry and Starbucks?

Listening To: Lil Wayne's new album, Sorry 4 The Wait 2. I love me some Weezy.

Looking Forward To: Dinner with my family, and doing some relaxing this weekend. I plan to hopefully write and schedule some blog posts so I don't feel overwhelmed during the week. Here's hoping...

What's everyone up to this weekend? Any fun plans?

As You Grow Older

I like to think that we grow older rather than get older. Growing comes not only with age, but maturity, circumstances, and the way you deal with what life throws at you. Besides that, it sounds better too.

I was never the girl who was afraid of turning 30. Age is just a number, really, it is. I am loving life in my 30's more than I was at 21. There's several reasons for that, but I think the most important is that I am really getting to know who I am.

positive quotes for women

As you grow older you learn that the number of friends you have is nowhere near important the quality of frienships.
In high school you may have had a huge group of girlfriends and you tried so hard to be friends with everyone. I've learned that you can still be nice to people, but when it comes down to it, there's certain people that are truly your friends. I am lucky to have some friends in my life that have been here since preschool. Yes, we had disagreements throughout the years, feelings have been hurt, but we also have been there for each other at the most crucial times throughout the years...without judgement. I have made plenty of mistakes in my life, done things I wish I wouldn't have, and said things I wish I should have thought about before they came out of my mouth. Your true friends understand and are not only there when you have the best times to celebrate but when shit hits the fan too.

I have learned that I should have listened to my Grandma all those years when she said "Time goes so much faster as the years go on."
She was right, well she always I'm not sure why I ever doubted her on this one. I swore yesterday was January 3rd. It wasn't...actually, it's almost February. WHAT THE HECK? If that doesn't give you any more reason to live life exactly how you want every second of the day, I don't know what will. Before you know it Christmas will be here again. YOLO my friends.

The number on the scale doesn't matter.
I'm not just saying that because I haven't been a size 2 in a few (8) years. Truth is, when I was a size 2 I still wasn't happy. I wanted bigger boobs, my hair wasn't right, I wished my butt filled out my jeans.
The number on the scale won't make your smile bigger. It won't change your life. It won't erase your problems. It won't make you a better person.

In the past few years of gaining more weight than I would have liked to, I've been called fat. Honestly, it doesn't hurt me. It makes me look in the mirror and wonder why I don't have the motivation to set down the Cheez Its and hit the gym, but I don't stand there and cry. I feel bad for the people that think calling me fat makes me feel anything but sorry for them.
The number doesn't define you. I promise.

whatever im getting cheese fries

Bad things happen to good people.
Life doesn't always make sense. Profound statement, huh? But won't figure if out as you grow older. People you love will die. Tragic events may rock your world. Your heart will break. You start to wonder, why me? Guess what...these things happen every single day, to millions of people across the world. The way you handle these moments is what will change you, not the event itself.
You learn that in the absence of your mother you can help others dealing with the same type of loss. The same jerk that you dated and verbally abused you may never change, but you're now a stronger person because of it. You don't take shit from anyone anymore and learn to stand your ground.

Instead of being bitter and facing the world upset with the things you have been handed, you learn that life is way too short to be angry. Mend fences with the people you upset in the past. Help someone by listening to their story because they may need your help more than you realize.

Life is too short to be anything but happy. Be happy today.

4 Things That Happen When You Live With Males

When you live with more than one male in your house, it seems as if you start to notice all those things that you may not have in the past. I used to feel like I was the dominant one, you could say, the Queen of the Castle.
Enter 3 males, their belongings and their testosterone...and out goes my crown.

You will go through toilet paper faster than you ever thought possible.
Stock up when Target is offering you big savings from your Cartwheel app. Buy your Sunday newspaper and clip those coupons. I promise that you will need it.

The remote will never be in a normal spot, like the entertainment center.
The recliner, under the couch, the dining room table...these are all likely options of where any one of these guys will leave it. Why!? Why not just put it where we can all find it?

Speaking of TV. You may begin to think that the only channel your cable company now offers is ESPN.
Sometimes I even find Ethan sitting and watching it. I don't think he understands what he is watching, or cares to be watching it...maybe that testosterone just controls his brain and tells him not to change the channel.

At any given time a full blown wrestling match can erupt.
Chuck and Ethan. Ethan charging at me. Ethan and my brother rolling around on the floor. At least once a day one of these matches is taking place.

Where my girls at?! Anyone else have these things happen at home?

Confess Sesh

It feels really good to get things off my chest. What would I do if I didn't have this space? Walk around announcing these random things to people? Either way...I'm thankful that you all show up and listen.

I confess that I'm secretly starting to freak out about our wedding plans. We need a DJ and I need a dress. If one more person tells me I should have these things by now I may have a meltdown.

On that note...I'm not looking forward to dress shopping. At all. I'm not comfortable with my weight and am kind of dreading seeing myself in a dress with a body I don't love.

I ate a cosmic brownie last night. It's not helping the above situation, but damn are they good.

I have been reading a lot more blogs each night and am really loving getting to know people more. As if us bloggers didn't already know, this community is truly awesome.

I really want to find some lifestyle bloggers in my city, but have no idea how to get started. Is there a Tinder for bloggers? Or is that just called Blogging? Maybe I can Google it.....

I participate in some link-ups regularly and really enjoy it.
Anyone have particular link-ups they love taking part in that I can check out?

I have started my day with Starbucks about 5 days in a row. I can't stop. I need it. That, or I need more K-Cups and can stop draining my bank account.

On that note....I'm out. Until next time my confession session friends....

There is nothing more perfect in the winter than cuddling up on the couch with a soft blanket, cozy PJ's and a cup of cocoa. Pour some tasty alcohol in  your mug and have yourself a cocktail party!

I'm Weird & It's OK ((With Me))

If you have been around these parts of the internet before, you may remember a post about me and my weird tendencies. Well, since this is a part two you can chalk that up to:
1. Me STILL being weird
2. I have more weird things about me since I last wrote on this subject
3. Weirdness rules, so why not write about it more

In this case, it's all three. Let's get this crazy train rolling!

I can't eat tuna noodle casserole without some Lay's chips. When I was young that's how my mom made it. We scooped the tuna with some chips and to this day I need to still eat it that way. Totes healthy, I dig it.

If I am in the car and I pass a sign with a number on it- an billboard, a speed limit sign, mind automatically goes in to math calculations. Don't worry, I'm not Einstein doing advanced math in my head. Just some basic multiplication and division. It's really weird because I hate math and numbers...but I've been doing it for about 15 years. This is the first time I'm telling anyone too.
You're my special friends.

The FIRST thing I do when I wake up in the morning is clean my ears out. I dont' care if I have hot breath or my hair looks like Medusa....ears are first. It drives me absolutely insane if I'm traveling and I have somehow forgotten my Q-Tips.

My camera roll is full of 4 things:
quotes I love, pictures of Chuck & Ethan, wedding inspiration and weird stuff that makes me laugh my butt off. I frequently (about 3-15 times a day) go through my camera roll and smile.

Hopefully these things made you feel a little bit better about yourself today. I'm weird and it's okay...with me.

Happy Friday Friends!

HumpDay Confessions

HumpDay Confessions is baaaaack, thanks to Melissa. Thanks girl for giving us the ability to let it all out once a week and making it acceptable to do so.

Making Melissa

I confess that I am SO OVER my hair. I got a little over 3 inches cut off a few weeks before Christmas and it really needed it. One would think it would make my life easier, but when you have super crazy curly hair and you cut it this much shorter, this beast does NOT want to be tamed. Straightening my hair has actually taken longer most days. I am so anxious for my hair to grow out again!

I confess my desire to become a greeting card writer for Hallmark. I have SO many ideas, suggestions, witty one liners, and sappy notes for their brand. Anyone have a friend at Hallmark? I'm secretly dying to making friends with all the middle aged women at my local shop just to find out some information and work my way to the top.

I confess that I got totally irritated at work yesterday when a coworker asked the date of my wedding and then proceeded to say why she isn't having a wedding. "Too much money all for one day", "you could be using all that money for something actually important"...etc, etc... I smiled kindly and let her know that everyone has their own way when I really wanted to say "mind your business girlfriend!"

I confess that I lack a little in the common sense department. Last night I was filling the dishwasher and when it came time to put in the soap my hands were full with other things so I attempted to open the bottle with my teeth. I then had Clorox for dinner, so that was awesome. I don't always make the best decisions.

I'm off to make a better meal than diswasher gel. What's new in your world friends?

Bring Back The Spark In Your Relationship

Sometimes during the course of your love life you may find yourself walking through the day to day steps. You wake up, kiss good morning, end phone calls with an "I Love You", hug when you come home from work, and do it all again the next day.

Life gets so busy that you forget to take time to be IN love, and focus on your significant other. Here are a few easy ways to bring back the spark in your relationship.

Go on a day date
This weekend we spent a day taking a spontaneous roadtrip after an errand to Niagara Falls. No time restrictions, no obligations, just the two of us. We held hands, we laughed, we kissed...we enjoyed just the two of us. It was the absolute best day we both had in a long time. Sometimes we feel guilty if we have Ethan on the weekends to do something with just Chuck and I. Take the time to love your partner.

Leave a love note or a sweet card
I love a good Hallmark card. They know how to say exactly what I'm thinking. Sometimes I buy Chuck cards just to remind him that I truly appreciate everything he does for me. I want him to know that even though our lives are hectic and I say "I Love You" 80 times a day, I am thinking other things and cherish his love. If he's lucky, I throw in a Chipotle gift card for him to get some lunch.

Turn the technology off and do something different
We recently had a family game night with no TV on in the background, no one playing on an iPad, nobody buried in their cell phones...and it was SO much fun. Games don't always have to involve children.
Play a board game, play cards...act like kids...but have  your adult time.

Gift your lover a "Datevitation" book
One of Chuck's Christmas presents was this awesome gift book I found online. Datevitation let's you customize a book with about any date imaginable, complete with pictures you can upload for your faces, and other cute personal touches.
I have always wanted to take a cooking class, and that was one of the options to insert in the book. I included a bowling date, a "recreate our first date", and one of our favorite activities- a couples' massage.
With Valentine's Day coming up, it's the perfect unique gift. Some of the ideas on the website actually inspired me to do a few new things that I have up my sleeve for the future.

date ideas

You don't need a lavish vacation, a million bucks, or a therapist to bring back the spark in your relationship. Take some time. Enjoy the presence of just the two of you. Laugh, explore, play, and most

What are your favorite things to do with your significant other?

Weekend Recap

I hope everyone is having a great start to the New Year.

I had a quick, but really fun weekend. Friday night I got some things done for this little blog of mine. I compiled a list of what I need to do monthly to reach my goals for the year.  I looked in to getting a trial of Pic Monkey Royale and then realized it's only $33 for a year of the service, so it was a no brainer to just go ahead and purchase it. I want to play around with pictures to work on my editing, even if it's basics to make this space look better for all of you.

We played some Scrabble Friday night too, which was a lot of fun. I love board games, and it was so nice to have some quiet time. The TV was off, the phones were put away...except for when I snapped this picture  ... and we had some classic family fun.

Saturday after work we went to a newer Asian restaurant and enjoyed a nice dinner out together. I like doing this once a month. It's fun to treat ourselves and have some fun outside of the house.

Sunday we had to go pick up something in Buffalo, New York so Chuck and I made a day date out of it. After our stop we headed to an outlet mall where I got a beatiful new Kate Spade bag for only $34! I had received a nice gift card for Christmas from a friend, and the outlet had all bags for 60% off, so I got a huge deal. Since Niagara Falls wasn't far away, we took the drive across the border for lunch. We walked around for a while, went to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch, made a stop to win some money at the Casino and then headed home. It was SUCH a fun day. We had no set plan, no time restrictions, and nothing to worry about. We laughed, we spent some good quality time together, and I fell more in love with Chuck.
He makes me laugh at just about everything, drives me to outlet malls to find a Kate Spade store, and loves the simple things in life.

All it takes is a little time to rekindle the spark in your relationship, more on that in tomorrow's post.
