Bar Cart Syling // Halloween Cheers

One of my favorite purchases last year was our bar cart. It obviously serves it's purpose in our home, but it's also something else I can decorate for each season.

I had such a fun time putting together a Halloween theme and wanted to share some great finds you can use in your home even if you don't have a bar cart.

Let's break it down piece by piece:

One of my favorite pieces is the festive garland with lights from Luce Accents on Etsy. I have a few pieces from their shop for different seasons and love them all.

Marshall's is a great place for fab finds on a budget. I purchased the bar towel, festive owl, candy corn candle and napkins for a steal under $22 total.

The broom and bat garland hanging on the side are dollar bin goodies from Target. The straws are also from there.

The most expensive pieces, but still relatively cheap, were the plates and glasses from Crate and Barrel. $4 for the plates and $3.50 for the glasses. The glasses are now on sale already.

I am obsessed with decorating our bar cart and making it fun for any guests we have. I am also on the lookout for good finds on sale after the holiday is over.

Stay tuned next week for an amazing fall drink you can make this season.

Tell me...what's your favorite place to find seasonal decorations?

ModCloth Autumn Layers

Fall. You already know it's my favorite. One big thing I love about the season is the options and versatality of fall fashion. Layers. Lots of layers that showcase many different looks.

Flannels, graphic tees, cardigans, vest, scarves...it's all amazing. Options are a necessity, and ModCloth has them all. From delicate tunics to my most favorite cozy sweaters and cardigans, the choices are endless.

I put together my favorite ModCloth Autumn Layers to showcase the diversity of their pieces.
The adorable Come Check It Out Tee under the Layer Up Top that has a removable gray hoodie pair perfectly with the beautiful honey color of the comfy Airport Greeting Cardigan. If I could live in this outfit every day I totally would. Comfort meets cute and chic with the bold colors of the season and flirty fit every woman desires.

ModCloth Autumn Layers

Accessories are my essential items. They complete an outfit and take it from simple to bold and beautiful. Scarves are my number one go to item in the fall. I love the colors of the Villa Circle Scarf that tie the outfit together. The Fairytale Forest Gumption Ring is fun and eclectic. Fingerless gloves are the best, especially when on the go, and the knit Saturday at the Stables oatmeal pair are on the top of my fall list.

ModCloth is exceptional when it comes to great looks for an affordable price. We all love looking cute on a reasonable budget!

What is your favorite fall item?

Blogger Men Tell All #2

Welcome to today's edition of the Blogger Men Tell All where I sat down with Chuck to find out all the juicy details of these Halloween themed questions.

1. Is Halloween your favorite holiday? If not, what is?

It's not. Thanksgiving is my favorite because we host a meal for our families that I like preparing. I like to hang out with everyone, watch football, and prepare for Black Friday.

2.What do you plan on dressing us as for Halloween this year?

Honestly I don't know. Ethan is at an age where he wants to go trick or treating with his friends...no dad's allowed, so I'm just me.

3.What is your go to drink?

Alcoholic- Jack & Coke
Non-Alcoholic- Mr. Pibb

4. What is your favorite scary movie?

Bloody Birthday. I saw it when I was 7 years old and it still terrifies me to this day.
(side note: Am I too young to know what the heck this is? Or is Chuck just that old?)

5. What is your favorite Halloween memory?

When I was in 5th grade my mom and my aunt made costumes for my cousin & I of the Road Warriors, Hawk & Animal. We wore them to our different schools and then met up at night to go trick or treating together. Best costumes ever.

The Road Warriors (not Chuck)

Oh Chuck, just a few more reasons to love you. Crazy costume and all.

Currently//The Monday Edition

Thinking: Is it really already time to go to bed and get ready for another work week?
I'm rotating my days off this week so I am paying for it now with a one day weekend. Let's just say I'm anxious for Friday.

Feeling: Exhausted. We had a busy weekend. It was fun...as always, but I truly feel like I'm running on Empty.

Looking Forward To: Next Monday. We are getting our engagement pictures taken. I can't even wait to see the result of all the beautiful fall colors we will be surrounded in.

Eating: Cold Pizza. I used to be grossed out by it. Not anymore I guess...

Looking at: my iPhone5S. I couldn't deal with the iPhone6. Too big. I love the size of the 5. Perfect in every heart eyed emoji way. Glad to have you back my little friend.

Listening to: Black Widow. I could hit repeat on this baby all dayyyyy longggg.

Thankful for: A fun roadtrip this past weekend. Chuck & I went with some friends to Halloweekends at Cedar Point. I LOVE roller coasters ESPECIALLY at night. We scored a bunch of front of the line passes so we didn't have to wait once. We had a blast riding everything, especially the newest coaster, GateKeeper.

Planning: Ethan's 11th Birthday Party! Holy cow...11 years old. This means it's pretty much Christmas. I know this because Ethan's birthday is one week before. It will be here any day now. Get ready!

Wanting: These Converse "Shoreline" cuties

What are you currently up to friends?

THE Holy Grail of Mascara// The One Product I Can't Live Without

We all have that one product we need to apply before we leave the house and face the world. Heck, you may even need it before we can even get the mail.
Me? I am obsessed with mascara. Nothing can beat it. Nope, not a thing. I am not ashamed to say that I love my eyes. Therefore, I love anything that can make them even more awesome.

Enter...Younique 3D FiberLash Mascara. This stuff is the bee's knees. I have tried almost (not even kidding) every mascara on the market. Drug store, high end drug store, designer, serums, etc...and nothing has worked as well!

The 3D Fiber Lash Mascara is a 3 step process. It is very simple and effective, and best of all, doesn't damage your lashes.

You start with the translplanting gel and coat your lashes just as you would with regular mascara. It is best to coat them a few times and make sure you cover from the root to end of your lash.

Next you top them with the natural fibers. My best tip for this part is to go from the mid section of your lash to the end and really extend the brush up so that you can get some great results.

Lastly, you want to cover the lashes one more time with the transplanting gel. This part is most important because it seals in the fibers making sure that they don't fall or become dull during the day.

Amazing stuff I tell ya!
The mascara is water resistant meaning it's not fully waterproof and it will wash off with soap and water. I did wear it on our cruise, and in the pool. I was sweaty, and got wet and it still lasted through it all. If you use the mascara every day it will last you about 8-10 weeks, but if you just use it for special occasions, maybe on the weekends it will get you 6 months of use. The mascara is only $29 which is great compared to other designer prices for these beautiful results.

If you're interested in getting some for yourself you can order through the online party I am hosting here. Want to host your own party and earn some products for free? I can help with that too!

Feel free to ask me any questions in the comments or shoot me an e-mail...I LOVE this stuff!

My Favorite Editing App

Have I mentioned lately how much I am loving Helene and Taylor's #Blogtober14?! If not...let me say it agan, I LOVE having fresh ideas to write about that I probably may not have thought of.

I love taking pictures, especially on my phone. Chuck and Ethan both contsantly ask, "Do we need to take another picture?" The answer is always yes. Memories. We need them.

I have a few editing apps that I use for pictures. I constantly try new ones and then test them out to see if they are worth me keeping on my phone. I encourage you to do the same because it is always fun to try something new and see if it works for you.

Cost: .99

This app allows you to make collages, add text to your collage, add filters to the pictures in the collage and even change the border color for your collage.
There are tons of varieties of collage layouts to choose from which is nice if you like to play around with that sort of thing. You can immediately upload it to your social sharing apps or save it to your camera roll.
The picture below is a simple edit allowing me to create a layout showing 2 pictures in 1 frame.

LOVING the Smith & Cult nail polish line! This is the color I chose for my latest pedi.

Cost: FREE

I don't use Shutterfly to edit pictures, but I thought it was worth you knowing about their mobile app.
I have an online shutterfly account that I use to store my pictures. It's a great site to back up all my pictures which is the main reason I have the app on my phone. I upload pictures that I want from my phone right to my online account within a few minutes. The other amazing thing that I love about Shutterfly's mobile app is their weekly special offers. They are often FREE and you only pay shipping. I have a few magnets, a mouse pad, and a coffee mug from using these offers. Good stuff!

Social Light
Cost: FREE

I recently downloades this app, it's a newer one to the App Store. I love the variety of filters since I sometimes feel like I am always using the same Instagram ones. I like variety and can't argue with a free app that rocks.

Cost: $1.99

If you're in to hearts, stars, dots, lights, colors, borders and those sorts of things...this is the app for you. You can layer edits in the app. For example, in the picture below I added hearts and then a photo filter on top if it. There are SO many options and I could play around doing fun things with my pictures forever. In my opinion, this one is a must have. There are simple edits you can make with touches of light in your picture all the way to adding hearts like I did. It's definitely a fun app!

Our little man looking adorable at his first NFL football game this past week!

What are your favorites? PS! Follow along my IG fun (@dreambigemelia)

I love to learn and know about any apps I may not have!

Fall Fashion

Fall. It screams scarves, sweaters, comfy and cozy. I think it's my favorite season to dress for. So many options. Layers, outerwear, accessories and more.

My inspiration comes from a lot of different fashion bloggers. I lust over their looks every day on Instagram and watch them push style limits. Mixing prints, leather details, bold accessories and beautiful color. I wish I had the patience, time and budget to look like like five million bucks each day. I do love shopping, fashion, and style though, so it's fun putting my own twist on things.

Speaking of Fall Fashion...have you heard of Nordstrom's partnership with Fashion Project? No? Let me explain. Do you need to clean out your closet? I imagine you are nodding  your head YES.
Do you put it off because it's such a tedious task? Nodding yes AGAIN!?!!!
Are you looking for a reason to do it, other than you simply, need to? YUP...I know.

You can visit the website and sign up for a pre-paid shipping label and donation bag. Check out the list of brands of clothing you can send back to Nordstrom. They will then set your items up for a photo shoot and list them on the Fashion Project website where other people can purchase your items. Once your items sell,  55% of the net proceeds go to one of the charities they have partnered with. Nordstrom will also send you a $40 gift card for every 5 qualifying items. It's basically a WIN-WIN!

In addition to donating, you can also shop the site and see where your money is going. There are charities that support great causes from women empowerment to animals and everything in between.

It's pretty awesome that through fashion we can make a difference in the world. You can sign up to shop, donate, or see more here.

Now to show you my Fall Fashion Favorites....

Leopard & Statement Bags

Leopard is the now a neutral, right? I love mixing leopard with prints too...there are no rules in fashion...at least in my book!
Kate Spade always does it right. Cake For Breakfast...I'm in.

Bold Accessories & Leather Details

I love leather details and it is big this season. It's not over the top, but it's just enough to make a difference. This necklace from Frou Frou & Frill in stunning fall colors will be on repeat. The ring is also from their shop and is adjustable so it is perfect!

Beautiful Colors

Frou Frou & Frill accessories are to die for. Not only are they beautiful and unique, but they are affordable too!

Now that you have seen so many amazing pieces from Frou Frou & Frill...why not enter to win some of your own?! You can enter to win below throughout the next week and share with your friends. Good Luck!

My Favorite Quote// Be The Change...

I love a good quote. So much so that my camera roll is filled with screenshots of them...from Pinterest, from signs, from other bloggers. They help me go about my day. They aid me when I need to relax. They help bring a smile to my face.

My all time favorite quote is from Mahatma Gandhi, "Be The Change That You Wish To See In The World."
Beautiful words that hold so much potential.

I truly believe these words are my motto in life. For such a long time I've always wanted to do my part to make the world a better place. Whether it be giving back to my community, trying to become a better person and working on my faults, or being kind to a stranger. I have felt the need to do more and be more. I may not be Oprah, quite frankly...I know I will never be. But I will be me. I will do my part in making the world a better place.

What is your favorite quote?

You can see one way that I am choosing to be the change in my post with Jane & Cents of Style.

Happy Birthday Boo

Today is Chuck's birthday. There's no denying that I love him. Sorry, not sorry. In honor of Chuck's birthday I have compiled a list of some of my favorite things about him.

Let's get this ((birthday)) party started.

1. He writes lunch notes for Ethan that are off the wall. He's the coolest dad ever.

2.  He's so serious. As serious as it gets when it comes to playing pretend Weather Reporter at the Science Center. Weather reporters twerk, right!??!

3.  He loves Mean Girls. And he has awesome art skills. Hence, the sign he made for #Buctober Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball playoffs.

4. Chuck is always ready to take a selfie with me. He may not always pose correctly, but hey...either do I.

5.  He loves to travel and experience new things. Chuck is always down for an adventure!

6. He's the most loyal friend and best hand holder.

In all seriousness, Chuck is that kind of guy that you want to be your friend. He is funny without trying, is a sense of reason when you need it most, and would do anything for anyone at a moment's notice. I have said it before and I'll say it again...I am truly lucky to have him by my side.

I never knew I was looking for someone like Chuck, but he came in to my life when I needed it most. Now I can't imagine what it would be without him.  I could live forever just off his laugh, energy, and his love for me.

Happy Birthday you old man! I love you Pants!

Favorite Fall Recipe

I'm half cheating today for #Blogtober14. I have already shared this recipe, but the minute I think of Bacon Wrapped Smokies I think FALL.

Football Sundays mean laziness, fun with friends, and yummy food. Enter the Bacon Wrapped Smokies. They are a crowd favorite. An easy make. You can't go wrong.

You'll thank me once you taste them.

What you need:
Lil Smokies (the packaged kind from the grocery store)
Brown Sugar
Baking/Cookie Tray

1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees
2. Open the smokies and bacon
3. Cut the pound of bacon in half down the middle
4. Take each strip of bacon and wrap around the smokie and secure at the top with a toothpick
Tip: I usually take a handful of toothpicks and set them aside so I don't have to keep reaching in my container with bacon covered hands
5. Lay on cookie sheet and sprinkle with brown sugar
6. Bake on 325 degrees in the oven for 35 minutes

Depending on the situation I sometimes then put them in a crock-pot on warm so they can be enjoyed throughout the day.

However you decide to enjoy them these guys won't disappoint.
Happy Fall!

Be The Good

When Jane.com and Cents of Style revealed their "Be The Good" Challenge I couldn't wait to get my hands on this t-shirt and learn more about the partnership.  Cents of Style designed this adorable tee and is selling them through Jane.com with all the profits benefitting Girls, Inc.
Girls Inc.  is a non-profit inspiring girls to be strong, smart, and bold. That's something I can stand behind!

The mission of the #BeTheGood Challenge is to inspire others to make a better society. My favorite quote of all time happens to be from Gandhi, which Jane.com mentions in their post about the challenge. "Be the change that you wish to see in the world." You can hold doors for others, smile at a stranger, buy someone coffee, donate your time at a soup kitchen or give money to a charity you believe in.

Whatever you choose to do, big or small, it can inspire others to do a kind act also. One thing I love is our family movie nights. I love being in the comfort of our home watching a flick under a cozy blanket with some delicious popcorn. I decided to venture to a local Redbox and leave some treats for people renting a movie.

I love doing secret random acts of kindness. This was my first time putting popcorn on a Redbox, but I had so much fun doing this I would definitely to do it again!

You can purchase a #BeTheGood shirt designed by Cents of Style at Jane.com/BeTheGood
Show yourself in your cute new shirt by using the hashtags  #BeTheGood #JaneCares and #CentsofStyle on social media. You will be able to read other's stories and hopefully be inspired to pass on the love.

What do you like to do to encourage kindness?

Halloween Memories #TBT

Halloween. As a child it could probably be considered Christmas. You get to make a trip to the store to pick out your altar ego, off the wall, totally cool costume and probably attend at least 2 activities where you get a huge bag full of candy. Who doesn't like Halloween?

I remember my favorite Halloween. I was in first grade and I won the costume contest at my elementary school. When going through pictures I sadly could not find any of this particular costume...but it. was. AWESOME.

My mom was always so creative and crafty. So creative, she made me a present. No, she didn't give me anything for Halloween. She literally made me in to a present as my costume. I wore a giant box that she wrapped up in cute paper. I remember it was bright yellow with fun colorful polka dots. I wore a headband with a big bow that looks great on top of a present. She put a bunch of blush on me and made  my cheeks  nice and rosy and fun. I wore bright tights and shoes too. This box was awesome and I don't remember if I was able to sit down with it on...haha, but I LOVED that costume.

Think this...
image via

Throughout the years my brother and I had some pretty cool costumes.

Crayon and a (confused) cowboy?! That was a fun year. Too bad orange was never my favorite color.

A baby doll and a homemade ninja turtle. I told you my mom was crafty. Who needs Target or Party City!?

This was when I went to party with my brother his senior year of college. We were (Original) Gangsters. Mom would be proud.

Last, but certainly not least. A recent favorite from a few years ago.

Chuck & I had to come up with a costume sort of last minute for a work function I had to attend two years ago. We opted to keep it classy and be some cast members of Jersey Shore.

What was your favorite Halloween costume?! I bet you were booootiful whatever it was!

Do you smell that?!

Do you smell it? If you don't...
Do you see it?

Are you confused yet?

My blog has a NEW design and I am SOOOOO over the top excited about it.

A HUGE thank you to Sarah from Venus Trapped In Mars who made this beautiful piece of art. Sarah does amazing work and more of it can be found in her Etsy shop Social and Chic. She's reasonably priced and great to work with.

I have also started using Disqus to moderate comments. In the long run it will be easier for me to respond to my readers since I like to do that as I receive comments, from my phone. I am getting the hang of it, so bear with me on all this new stuff.

For now...take a look around this new sparkly page and smile.

That's what I'm doing.

Dear 40 Something Year Old Emelia

In an effort to never reveal my age we will pretend that 10 years from now I will be forty...something. It's true, I won't be 50 something, so I'm sticking within my correct age bracket.

What would I tell myself ten years from now? This seems to be more difficult for me to do rather than looking back on any mistakes I've made, hurdles I have overcome, or great moments I've relished in.

Dear Emelia,

I hope that you have slowed down to enjoy life and quit being so hard on yourself. Days will come and go, and time is something we cannot control. You are at the age where things will happen quicker than ever. Take some moments and enjoy every little bit of life. You do deserve it, no matter what you think.

You have been trying to figure out this thing called life lately. You wonder if you should be doing more with your career. You are trying to figure out the right time to have kids. You are balancing being a stepmom, planning a wedding, and other huge things in your life. You will figure it out. You always do with the right people in your corner. Keep fighting and be strong.

You are craving the desire to do more. Do more for others. You are struggling with the fact that there are not always enough hours in the day. Maybe by this time your days are filled with doing for others. You have always had big dreams and hopes for yourself and everyone around you. Inspire them. Stay positive and creative.

There is more to life than needing new nail polish, losing weight, and constantly being busy. You operate on busy, but just take some time and relax. It does not make you lazy...it makes you human.

Breathe. Cherish. Enjoy. Love.

Keep on keepin on woman,

Your 30 something year old self

What would you tell yourself 10 years from now?

Best Vacation Ever// Cruisin Away

I'm warning you right now. I get overly excited talking about our cruise to the Bahamas this past May. I could probably write until next Tuesday telling all the details of our adventure. You should just go ahead and book a Disney Cruise right now though.

You may not have children but if you have family and are looking for a vacation, this is the way to go. When you hear Disney Cruise you may immediately think children running around chasing Mickey Mouse, toddlers screaming their heads off because Goofy won't take a picture with them, and no relaxation in sight. You're wrong.

Disney Cruises travel just about anywhere these days: Europe, Mexico, Bahamas, Alaska...the possibilites are almost endless. There are also four boats to cruise away on that all include top notch rooms, service and the whole nine yards.

We started planning our cruise based on the destination. We wanted to go to the Bahamas to make Ethan's dream come true of swimming with dolphins. Ethan would see commercials for Nassau, specifically for Atlantis and shriek over the dolphins and the scenery. A few friends of ours had gone on the Disney cruises and did nothing but rave over every part of it so we booked ours.

The great part is that only a small deposit is needed at time of booking. You have until roughly 60 days prior to pay the balance. We saved every month and family got us Disney gift cards for Christmas that we were able to put towards our vacation. The pricetag isn't small, but I would say it's definitely worth the money.

We departed Port Canevral, Florida on May 5, 2014 aboard the Disney Magic for a 5 day cruise to Nassau and Castaway Cay (Disney's private island). The minute we stepped on the ship the magic began. From the Key To The World Cards that ensure you don't have to carry cash, cards or ID to the Kids Club where Ethan played hours on end with new friends, to any type of food you want...dreams came true every second.

The first day we got acclamated with the boat and where things were located. I think I was so excited that I forgot to take pictures of every area. One HUGE regret. I usually snap pictures like a fool so I'm not sure what came over me. The Disney Cruises have what's called rotational dining which means we traveled to the different restaurants of the ship, but our waiters came with us. We grew pretty fond of each other over the duration of the trip...Kenloy and Vitor were pretty awesome guys!

We woke up to the beautiful sights of Nassau on day 2 and I couldn't believe the sights. It was so breathtaking from the moment we looked out our porthole window from the room. We made our way to breakfast then off the ship to another boat that took us to Blue Lagoon Island where we swam with the dolphins. On the way out to the island we passed Atlantis (HOLY AMAZING) and a ton of celebrity homes. I got all US Weekly with my camera and zoomed in to the front door of the properties to see if I could scope anyone out. I mean...we're talking Oprah, Tiger Woods, Jay Z & Beyonce, Michael Jordan...YEA...amazing homes! Swimming with the dolphins was hands down the best part of the trip for all three of us. We have never seen Ethan smile so big or for so long. The smile DID NOT leave his face. His dolphin, Clifton loved him too...they were bound to be BFF.

Higlights of day 3 included seeing all parts of Disney's private island. Our day started by being greeted by Captain Jack Sparrow when we left the ship. The guys snorkeled with stingrays while I sat with my toes in the sand and took pictures. The island was absolutely amazing and we didn't even have to leave for lunch. Disney employees catered to us and served up an amazing barbeque style meal. There is bikes to ride around the island, water slides, and kayaks. There is even a post office where you can mail things to friends and family back home that will come from Disney Island, Bahamas...too cool!

The day at sea was so peaceful. We enjoyed time at the adult pool...yes, there's an adult area with no kids allowed and it's as heavenly as it sounds. Chuck and I also had a couples massage that could have been better...we were a bit sunburned even after applying sunscreen every 4 hours. Ouch! Ethan took multiple rides down the enormous water slide AquaDuck and we ate from the endless (true) supply of ice cream.

If you're not up for ever leaving the boat there is PLENTY to do onboard. Whiskey and wine tastings, cooking classes, movies, pools, a spa, cigar bars and more. Family activities every evening including character meet and greets, and something our friends baby participated in...Captain Jack's Diaper Dash (a baby crawling race)...so much fun!

I could go on and on about the amazing amenities, five star service, and how impressed I was with the trip and Disney Cruise line. If you have any questions or want tips, please leave me a comment and I will be more than happy to e-mail you suggestions and help with whatever you may need!

I think it's safe to say when you leave a vacation with happy tears in your eyes it may just have been the best trip ever. I was SO sad to leave the boat on our final morning and was already looking up future destinations for our next cruise.
